Spuds McDoogle Racing team

I have decided to organize a HPV racing team for this summer. I will call the team "Spuds McDoogle Elite Racing".

I am looking for the best of the best to race young sassy whipper snappers who are in need of a good ol whoopin.

"walking a recumbent uphill"

In a time not too distant past, I remember a post on another recumbent board that likened walking an USS recumbent to giving an enema to a cat. Whenever I read you tongue in cheek comments as above, I can not get the picture of that damned cat out of my mind.

Good luck on your racing team.

Regards,

Gary

Fella at the bike shop adv me to wear 'wicking' fabric so as a wouldn't catch penumonia Heck, I told that boy I aint even gonna break a sweat, Im ridin a recumbent.kids had a chuckle over that one.

well family feud starts in twnety minutes and im making some jello first.Ill post if my old lady lets me back on the compter/ last week she walks in and the screen has all these pictures, I pretended it just came up on my email but to nope she wasnt buy.

All I have is this damnable DF bike right now, but let me see what I can do with a little duct tape and zip ties. I'll get back to you on this.

Shoot, you know what gripes me Spuds?Kids today. These youngsters spend all their time dumping quarters in a PacMan machine, then when it comes time to race, they do it on a video game system. That ain't racin', no siree!

You need to get out there, with other recumbent racers, and brave the elements. These racing, video-game contraptions are just that.A Game.Heck, my grandbaby plays Madden2000 on his Xbox, but I don't hear him sayin' "Grandpa, I can smoke Donovan McNabb".But these "racers" boast all the time.Heck, racin' ain't too difficult when you're on your low-slung recumbent, one hand in a bag of funyuns and the other hand holdin' a playstation controller. That just ain't racin', and take it from me, I grew up in a time when a no.2 pencil was the only "derailleur" we had.Heck, my kit contains polident.I ain't no spring chicken.

Or these fellas on their low-slung recumbents that "race" unsuspecting folks on a standup bike.Heck, that fella on a standup bike is probably doin' a recovery ride and tryin' to keep his heartrate down. And here somes this fella on a bent pedalling as hard as he can, sweating, steam comin' outta his ears and face beat red like a tomato.Goes home and boast to his old lady how he "smoked a roadie", sheeeoooot. You think that boy on the standup bike thought they were racin?Heck, he was just goin' fast enough not to tip over.

Kids ain't got no shame today. These so-called racers should be emabrassed. No shame at all, not since that boy from Arkansas fornicated in the white house.Goin' ta hell in a handbasket since then.

Melvin is another of Spuds alter egos. You notice ..........this is a new user in March. The question is, just how many alter ego's is spuds willing to create? I would think he could created his own forum with nobody in it but himself! I know this is Spuds, because he is poking fun at my Tacx I-magic winter racing season.

No, I-magic trainers are not games. They are training tools. Its been a few seasons now that in the winter months they have online racing competitions.

Those look cool. I wouldn't mind getting something like that.

How much $ are we talking to get into virtual reality racing and how many people do it? (I'm betting over a $1000 considering how much my treadmill cost)

Can you race live against other people?

Alltheway,
Some guys are only good at virtual racing with a computer. Other people actually race in sanctioned events. Training toys are fun but they have little value when compared to actual recumbent racing data. REAL races have REAL headwind, on a REAL track or road surfaces with REAL racers who can cut in front of you at any moment or drop you at any second. It is survival of the fittest on the HPV track.

Some recumbent riders prefer to race others with recumbents. A select few like to play with toys and dream about racing.

REAL recumbent racing is recumbents vs. recumbents NOT recumbent vs. DFs. No legitimate comparison when there are 2 different platforms.

The only REAL recumbent races in 2005 are listed at:
https://www.wisil.recumbents.com/wisil/events.htm

I'm not troll. I have no aliases. The moderator can check my IP and server data which will confirm that there is only one Spuds McDoogle posting under the same name.

BTW, comments and posts like "Help me break the recumbent stigma" are ruining it for the recumbent community in general. Since when has there been a battle between the DF community and the recumbent community or any stigma?

Anyone who has been around recumbents long enough can go fast if they ride a racing recumbent, learn to use it and train properly. There is no recumbent stigma and never has been. Recumbent riders have nothing to prove about going faster than roadies. Either you can or you can not. If your goal is to be faster than all the roadies you see then make the changes in recumbent equipment and put some effort into using it.

After you do that "roadie smoking" thing thousands of times it gets boring and pointless. Bigger and better legitimate goals are out there that are recumbent platform specific.

I've been around long enough to know what is a fast recumbent design and what is a slow recumbent design. I know the speed difference between non faired USCF bike design and recumbents in stock, partially faired, fully faired as well as body socked fairings and front wind wrap fairing configurations. I have seen plenty of coroplast homebuilts and have used all of the fairing designs I've listed at some point in time.

I got bored with the recumbent vs. roadie thing several years ago. There never was a roadie vs. recumbent issue and there never will be. Two different bike platforms.

If you want to prove how fast you are against other DF roadies then compete on a DF with them at a DF event.

You can pick up an I-magic trainer with steerer for around 600 bucks and get into the online virtual racing for the winter. In the summer you compete against australians if you want. There is wind, hills, flats, hairpin corners............... It breaks up the monotony of winter training. There are around 500 or so racers now at the i-magic archive and it keeps growing on a daily basis. Its real handy for those rainy days when you don't want to get wet................... you can head to the trainer and race somebody.

Too bad it wasn't live.

Becasue your strategy is going to change based on what is happening in real time.

My only question is how does the program account for the different aerodymanics between riders?

I'm sure it isn't perfect, but I think like you said it would be a lot more fun than watching Tv while on the trainer.
