trike convertion would it work

Some advice I wanna take my tour easy clone and turn it into a trike I am not looking for speed by no means I wanna turn it into a comfortable platform to ride and put a top on so I can ride in the summer slow is what I like the one I am looking at comes with a single speed beach cruiser rear end but I wonder if I can modify it to put a 7 speed sprocket in the single speed place cause it bolts on the rear drop outs anyway . turn the tour easy into a trike using this kit in silver

It might easier (and possibly cheaper) to just buy a Sun EZ-1 or EZ-3 to get that design.
They are routinely available on Craigslist (locally) and eBay for $300-800 in good to excellent condition.

Otoh, you might want to contact Andrew Carson at Recycled Recumbents if you really want to do the conversion. He's is pretty much a priceless resource as far as TE clones go. https://www.recycledrecumbent.com/

Edited to add: There are multiple Sun's on eBay right now in the price range I mentioned above.

1. I'm sure that it can be done.
2. I'm equally sure that the details will be quite challenging.

My bet is the final project cost will significantly exceed buying a commercially produced trike.

Well the kit is 169$ and I already have the clone and I figure if it doesn't work I got a mountain bike the kit would work awesome on I got a 7 speed wheel that is warped real bad I was going to take all the spokes off the center and put the center where the single speed hub would go and see what needed to be done to get the sprocket on the other side to drive the drive wheel. And then go from there even if I half to make it a 3 speed that would be fine to one gear in the back and 3 up front and adjust my rear derailer to stay on the back sprocket and use it as a tentioner so I still have the crank sprockets to shift from granny to a higher gear.

I guess, based on what you've written, that there's no reason not to try it.
It's not for me, that's for sure. But, it's your bike and parts. So why not?

I really don't see any reason it would not work I want a trike and cant afford to get a cat or terra trike so this is my next option only one I can really think of to do AD said it would be real heavy and speed demon it would not be. But being heavy doesn't bother me cause I need to loose more weight anyway . and like I said I got a mountain bike that would love this on it . Or the wife might want it on her cruiser.

You seem to have already made up your mind; so why don't you let us know how it works when it's completed.

I have not made up my mind totally yet I just want a trike if I could get a trike fairly cheap I would not do the conversion waiting to see if A D might get one on his site at recycled recumbents before I attempt this convertion and just get it from him.

This would work with the qualifications you and others have pointed out already. Go for it!
Cycles U.S. Homepage - CYCLES U.S.
is a good resource for trike conversion kits and other bits for this kind of project. They show a 3 speed hub connected to the rear axle by a short loop of chain this might work for your 7 speed hub. The journey is not about the destination but the experiences along the way.
Good luck and please post pictures of your progress. .

I installed one of these kits (might not be the exact one of course, it was just a trike conversion off ebay) for my father in law. he now has a delta style recumbent trike (that he rides maybe once a year). It went on ok, and seems to work ok. That said, if I didnt already have at least one of the components, I would never do it, and would just buy one of the common Sun trikes or similiar low end recumbent trikes instead of converting one.
