Global Gutz in Toronto is all set! Be there!

Not in Toronto?

You can still win a new Angus, maybe even 2, or one of a bunch of other stuff!! The frames aren't going to the race winners, nor any of the other stuff on this page below. That suff is for YOU!
We'll have many more prizes up, each one betters your odds so BUY A TICKET! Sponsors are paying shipping even! Another 1/2 dozen prizes will be uploaded today sometime.

C'mon, send a poor Canadian to Oz and win a sweet sweet new frame!

When I Say Climb, You Climb!
Sopo Bicycle Coop Metric Century and Alleycat
Sponsors so far: Bicycle South, Intown Bicycles, Skate Escape

a benefit for the Sopo Bicycle Cooperative
Atlanta GA

Sunday, October 15

Metric Century Start: 8:00am
Alleycat Start: 9:30am
After Party starts at 12:00pm
Awards at 2ish

Meric Century (62 miles):
Hills. About 35 of them. At least 20 between 8% and 12% gradient (thats between "this sucks" and "oh f**k!") with options including a +18% a**kicker and a short burst of Paris-Roubaix style pave.
The course winds its way through downtown Atlanta and the surrounding neighborhoods for 62 miles giving you views of beautiful old
neighborhoods, wonderous industrial vistas, and the homes of people who have way more money than they know what to do with.
The route is never more than 6 miles away from downtown Atlanta and is almost entirely serviced by MARTA busses.
Rest stops will be provided as well as a SAG vehicle which will be on call for emergencies.
Convenience stores are everywhere if you need a quick pit stop.
If you want to combine your love of climbing hills with your lust for riding in traffic and your desire for bad city streets, this ride has everything you need. (It's a Sunday morning so there probably won't be a whole lot of traffic really)

Hills Alleycat:
Same hills, you choose the order, you choose the route.
32 mandatory climbs ranging between 5% and 18%
All hills must be completed to compete for prizes.
Placement based on time only.
Prizes for top overall riders and top fixed/ss.

Entry for Metric Century is $30.
This includes: T-shirt, spoke card, rest stops, after party with food, maps and cue sheets.
Registration must be in by October 7 to recieve a T-shirt.
On-site registration until 8:00am on the 15th. (still $30)

Entry fee for Alleycat is $15.
($30 get you a t-shirt of you register by Oct. 7)
This includes: spoke card, manifest... what? you expected something else?
OK, we'll let you into the after party too.
Registration open until 9:00am on the 15th

Registration info will be available soon on www.sopobikes.org
Look for flyers at your local bike shop.

someone should write code that inserts a "where?" message after each alleycat flyer post.

Race start: 9pm, Oct 14
registration/sign-up starts 8:30pm

On October 14, I will give you Albany's first (to my knowledge) alleycat, a bike race playing in traffic on a lovely autumn Saturday night, ending at a comfortable neighborhood bar that serves up decent brews and cheap za.

There will be art! Scenery! Maps! Carrying stuff! Nervous state troopers! Basic math! And some of the finest tarmac in the city of Albany. Ride any bike or trike you like; as long as it's got wheels and pedals and is you-powered, it's all good. Don't think you need to be Lance Armstrong's second testicle, this'll be just as much of a good-spirited ride as it will be a race.

Entry fee gets you a neato spoke card and a shot at being the baddest ass in the Capital Region (along with the purse).

Pre-registration via email and Paypal/personal meetup welcome and encouraged. Mostly so I know how many spoke cards to make as those ****ers get expensive fast.

I'd like to request an amish checkpoint. I'll probably visit the rents for a weekend to enter this jawns (i'm a white roser, not a red roser). I know not a thing about the mean streets of Lancaster.

edit: nevermind, my roomate was going to be deported so now he's getting married that weekend

I think they do the RAAM in about 7-8 days, no need to quit job, just ride fast!

They're fully sagged teams of semi-pros in tip-top shape, not fixie riding bike nerds. RAAM BFSSFG style would take a few more weeks..
