There were Pirates out in the town tonight! And a likely-looking band of cutthroats they was, too.

Was good to run into you all tonight. Costumes and everything. Definitely want to hook up with one of your rides later on.

Let the scuppers run with blood!

Is this that guy! Damn, I was hoping he knew of the pirates due to our "street cred" rather than the forum.

ah, results. i'll leave it to Emily to announce the winners, but must share the favorites...
as in,
it's a halloween themed race. why do you think the answer was 'first ladies dj collective' instead of 'death by sexy'?
same with 'some lawyers office' instead of 'the national association of funeral directors'. y'all are silly.
oh, and if you're going to 'research' instead of riding for answers, be smart. there is no Hilton hotel in Georgetown.

thanks to tink and rincewind for bringing us booze in the cold.
great thanks to warehouse for hosting us miscreants.
and for people who didn't come, you suck.
and, for posterity, some photos, and the manifest:
right here

lady djs scare me though...

Thank you hostesses w/ mostesses! it was a really fun evening in spite of coming in DEAD last and our spoooooky and debilitating learning curve/sense of direction. (there is a hilton on wisconsin, I swear. uh, just not in georgetown.) Gooooo team! I feel like a winner because I didn't crash my "new" ride.

ps- i mentioned to some of you the story of the couple sitting at the bar. the original message has been taken down, but there's a response (proof!) here:
https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mis/106825266.html
basically, the ad was "You're Ian from the Make-Up. You looked at me on the street. I'm a plain clothes, non-hipster that's really into you. *insert semi-pornographic suggestive slurpy stuff*"
at the bar last night was Ian with...?
sorry, i'm such a freaking gossip. but i sometimes marvel at how small this town is.

i think it goes without saying now that whenever there is a group photo, i have a pirate grin and am surrounded by happy-go-lucky or confused pirates.

Thanks everyone for a great ride last night. The crew from the "Kogge" of "Das Boot" had a lot of fun. Special thanks go to emilymildew and chimblysweep for planning and organization!

I'm glad you guys had fun. Thanks for the bike, Chimbley. Surly and I made it home to Rockville safely and my dining room is now crowded with bikes!

Standings:

1st place: Das Boat -- Sol, Laura, Christoph and Gil
(only sexy pirate ad was a big help, as was the pirate ship tandem bike)

I don't have the list of who was on what team in front of me here at work, but you guys all did really well.

And also:

PANDA! Make sure you go through the flash gallery of photos at the top. I recommend going in reverse order and having a helmet on, because your head will EXPLODE with CUTENESS.

San Diego Pandacam.

Baby pandas make me want to cry. Erik and I are going to steal one and make it our pet.

Anyway. That ruled, guys! Laura (my Laura) already has ideas of something to do in February, a similar sort of scavenger hunt thing.

hold up... Is that the same dude who used to front Nation of Ulysses???? he was totally sassy! His freaking band used to open for a lot of acts at the old 9:30 and DC Space. He had a white belt before any of you.

Nice meeting you all tonight. Always good to put a face to an avatar...is that what we determined they are called? Anywho, here are some pics. I used up all my free flickr space with these.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/24832813@N00/

And one extra that wouldn't fit in my flickr.

P.S. If any of you know how/where i can learn to resize pics from a 5mp camera easier...help me!
