U.S. Government?

In other news...... I rode my bike today. I went on a 10 min ride on very flat Cap Hill streets. My knee felt good, but my legs were dead. I got tired quick, but I am on my way.

Thanks again for dropping by on the last pillage. It made me miss riding and hanging out with all you, but all my PT is made much easier by know what I am working to get back too.

We lost a first-timer at CM to a flat. Which really sucked after the herculean effort we put in with my minipump. Lessons learned:
1) This sucks: https://www.crankbrothers.com/powerpump_alloy.php
2) Gas stations don't always have compressors that will do high-pressure bike tires.

I burned the last of my Performance coupons on an upgrade:
https://www.topeak.com/products/pump_012.html

This thing seriously rocks. We'll be set if anyone flats at polo this week.

CM itself was alright. Fracking cold though. It's hard to keep warm when you're not traveling at Pirate speeds. We may also have some pillaging competition. On M st in Georgetown we saw a bike-pile outside one of the restaurants. They even had one in the tree. Anybody know of any other groups like us around here? Wasn't WUSS cause the bikes were all geared.

I got the Road Morph instead, a very nice portable pump indeed, it has a pressure gauge and everything.

I spent about 15 min comparing the two Morphs. The only diffs I could see were the Mountain looked like it had a slightly thicker barrel and a bigger handle. Packaging didn't say anything, same price, same size/weight. So I picked the Mountain cause of the bigger handle(mine's got the gauge too,but it doesn't show it on the webpage). Works like a charm. Tested it on the Fuji's 125psi's;took a little while, but way easier to use than the Crank Bros, and I didn't have to sweat ripping the stem off the wheel.

Hey Pirates,
this is Sol, I wanted to invite all of you to a ride/race/camping trip that David M at City bikes, and I are putting together called the long haul fu#@$#.
it starts on friday april 8th at 4ish where we ride to the camp ground just past harpers ferry on the C&O canal. its about 65 miles. then we wake up eat in harpers ferry and come back thru the tip of west virginia into virginia and come home on the W.O.D. which is about another 75 miles.
there is about 15 people confirmed at this point. about 7 are city bikes people. It should be fun.
no one will be dropped repeat no one will be dropped the pace will be moderate,I believe about 11 to 12 mph bring light camping gear and something like a cross bike as the C&O is quite rocky past great falls. everyone is welcome. email me if you want to come along. schottt2@hotmail.com
hope you guys are all doing fine.
I will try not to be such a stranger

Lets get t-shirts etc made up for the long haul ferry ride.

If I can learn fast enough I might make up a bunch of these riding pants I keep meaning to make.

The weather is great, I think I'm gonna go for a ride. If anyone wants to join me, you can pick the rout (since I have no real sense of direction) meet me at sherwood at 5ish. Ride until 6 0r 6:30ish. Otherwise I'll just be doin' laps at Hains I guess.

dynaryder:
I'm that first-timer from last Friday who was stymied by a flat tire. You remember inspecting my tire, right? Thought it was clean?

I went through another tube before looking very closely a before I finally found a small piece of glass (way out on river rd., of course).

So I laid down the $$ for a set of 28mm Specialized Armidillos and hopefully I will be able to ride with you all next month. You seem like a fun group.

Thanks too tink for the presta-schrader adapter.

Lebowitz,
The Armadillo's are great but they most important thing is to keep your tire pressure at max, use a floor pump at least once a week. If not your own, then use the one at your local store. Too bad on the glass, that is nearly the hardest (wire is the worst).
