I think the proposed "No right on red" law for Toronto is a good plan.

Oh yes. The rules of the road are those of the bully. I'm bigger, so get out of my way. I should do this when I walk on the sidewalk, queueing, etc..

Does anyone know of a shop that has a headset wrench for the old Shimano 600 AX system? It has that weird "flower" style pattern to it. I could probably use an old rag and some vise-grips but it might screw up the finish pretty bad...

I'm interested in Chrome, Pac, Incase, and any other high-end brands.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
sweet petes and BOW both carry pac and last i saw they have quite a few. try SPs for Under the Weather also - that said, ordering from UTW is easy and they are quite accomidating, good turn around time etc.

also try urbane for Push the envelope and i think they still carry some Pacs...

oh, and i believe Curbside has lots of Chromes...

i had one of those on my schwinn before it got painted - i used the method you describe and it seemed to work. if you screw up the cups i have some extras you can have. i hate to point people to this shop but maybe high park cycles? jon may be the only person in the city that would have one (aside from mike barry which is obviously not an option anymore). speaking of which did anyone else read the article on him in the current issue of dandyhorse?

Dang, this topic never fails to wake me up from my deskjob. I too was a scofflaw cyclist for about the past 18 years, accident-free except for a few wipe-outs on early winter ice, but then I got myself a family and my wife said I had to ride more defensively and law-abidingly. I have two knock-downs last year to show for it. I've always felt there were some interesting facts in the stats, I like where you're going with the accident breakdowns.

I turn south at University and Gerrard every day for work. That intersection is an accident waiting to happen. Peds are stepping out to attempt the double crossing going east, while cagers are coming at them from Gerrard, and due to the expanse of pavement a lot of them particularly cab drivers are up to 30 kmh an hour or more before they discern how poorly they've judged angle, distance and acceleration and jam on the brakes or swerve. As a cyclist, I've given up on turning left from the centre lane as per the law and suchlike, and just turn left from the curb lane.

Cager working a cell phone rolls 12 feet over the line at a red light on Bayview northbound at Nesbitt. I have my two-year-old on board, so it was a good thing I had instinctively declined to use my legal right-of-way just then. I suggest she hang up the phone, and she screams f**(& off at me in return.

A regular 32mm headset wrench will work on that if you're careful

Hey all,

I'm doing the Friends for Life Bike Rally again this year in support of the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation. We're riding from Toronto to Montreal to raise funds for people living with HIV/AIDS in the GTA. The services that the PWA offers these people are really practical things like vitamins, massage therapy, haircuts, groceries, etc. It's stuff that makes an immediate positive impact in people's lives.

Anyway, I suck at fundraising and I'm terrible at asking for money, but since my fundraising total is currently sitting at a big fat goose egg I've got to ask. If anyone's interested in sponsoring me (even 10 or 20 bucks) it would really be appreciated. Click here for more info: https://my.e2rm.com/personalPage.aspx...LangPref=en-CA

I had a set of those but sold them with a bunch of my un-needed tools. The good news is the girl I sold em to works at Bicycles on/at? St Clair....625 St. Clair West.

Will do.

I love Ottawa. The fall weekend rides on the Gatineau Parkway when it is closed to cars were the best. Mind you, it has been 24 years since I last lived there while at university, but my brother still lives there, and my parents still live just up the Valley from there. I get all nostalgic every time I go back to Ottawa.

well keeping with the bad driver theme...... i was in my second banger of the season this morning unfortunately... riding south along yonge st coming up to eglinton along side stopped traffic. A woman desperately trying to get to starbucks was coming north bound making a left, pushing through the stopped traffic. When... surprise there's a fender 4 ft in front of me!!! I didn't even have time to let go of the handle bars and ate the hood pretty good. My bike actually flew over my back like a trebuchet (sp?) catapult hahaha

somehow my bike is in one piece still (gotta love those weinnmans)... along with my teeth!? It looked way worse than it was though... enough that a big crowd of passer byes and drivers stopped

I think it may be a sign to start riding with a helmet

tdot - was the driver trying to make it through on the yellow when you crossed paths?

Wow... the road forum is really, really douchy. It's as though there's no sense of humour or sarcasm there. The potential to troll is... undeniable.

Yeah the road forum is an interesting mix of 50% complete ******baggery and 50% really interesting technical info. It's always an awesome read though
