Is the fuji a good ride for 570$(taxes in) or is there something better that im overlooking? or even better maybe someone in t. has a used fixie they wanna sell? or barter for a kona (sans rear wheel)? thanks for your time guys.
$570 is about as good a deal as you will find on a new, full bike. That being said the rear wheels on the Fuji's are craptastic so you may need to budget a few extra bucks for a replacement. Keep yer eye on Craigslist..there have been a few decent, reasonably priced fixies up there as of late.

stormtrooper helmet looks fab for winter....I think I'd want a layer of clear something for a eye covering that extended outside the lil eyeholes, cause they would definitely fill wit snow on a white day, same as vents do and you wouldn't be able to wipe it away like a conventional winter mask/eye shield combo

haven't tried the used pista yet but i will definetly look into it. I've been calling the entire list of bike shops on the toronto bicycling network page checking prices haha. sounds like the good stuff starts around 700 to 750 which is a couple hundred more than i have so now i have to decide if i want to wait till i have the money and get a better bike or buy the fuji now and just ride and have fun. Honestly i hate buying things, trying to get the best price and lurking through forums to find peoples often very biased opinions on bikes and contemplating sketchy internet deals takes the fun out of it. I just want to ride a bike dammit! hahaha oh well ill deal. by the way thanks for everyones help

I ride a fixed mtb no problems. I think they are awesome to comute on. Bottle, fender and rack mounts, no toe overlap, rugged and bombproof. I assume the kona has vertical dropouts, but an eno hub will solve that problem if you wanted to convert your bike to a fixed gear. I don't know about cost in town, I know Misfit Cycles has an eno wheel for $240. Urbane sells the hub for 200 alone. Cheaper than a new bike and mtbs make awesome fixed gear bikes.

You mentioned fixed, not necessarily track. Do you have any major objections to a conversion? You can get a good wheelset and put it on pretty much any frame that fits you....

If you really like the kona, then you could get the eno hub and build it up and sell off your shifters/derailleurs/rear brakes to help pay for it. That's the cheapest route IMO.

always assume that any ride i propose is a beer drinkin' trouble makin' tobacco spittin' ride. just with a little bit of excersise in between.

BTW - i just finished trimming the edges off my B-17 so now it looks more like a swallow. not a bad job if i do say so...

assuming my neck feels better as opposed to worse in the next hour, i'm inclined to join y'all!

wheras i appreciate getting accupuncture, i find that the muscles feel rather tender for awhile after...

+1 to getting a new wheel, saving up a bit more for something you're lusting over, and then having 2 bikes

True...I have a nice disc ready used one for $40...but then you need a set of cogs, chain, tire and tube. Adds up quick.

This just in:

Disco Inferno
Saturday July 21
Price Chopper parking lot (Queen & Gladstone)
$5 registration (1 beer incl.)
Prizes & fun incl., no assembly required.

Deal as I know it is quick race through a few of the club districts. Possibly ending with some hard core boogey down. If all goes well, plans are in the works for more.

Anyone here doing Global Gutz on Friday?

Hey Ryan,
If you've got that flyer done, would you mind emailing it to me?
I'm going to try to get a few copies banged out for Tober.

Ryan and I were out this evening and we knocked out our first skid and trick video. Check out Dr. Benway's clinic...

PS - the $14 steadycam mount works great! - https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/steadycam/

I can't skid in my Chucks, I think they are too floppy or something. Nice video though.

Quick question for everyone: do you skid with both legs or just one? I've got it down pat with my right/strong leg but I don't see why I shouldn't be able to get the left/weak leg to also stop-skid, but I cannot do it. Am I too weak or am I overthinking it or something?
