Yeah, we had a couple guys on geared bikes last week. I think the full distance is probably about 200m along the straight in front of the main Exhibition building. You don't *have* to start sprinting from the line though, but I think everyone did save for one race. Keith and I were the only people that did a slowish rolling start, trying to see who would jump first. That was more fun to me, especially at 48x18 with people like Mitch there with like 78x8. Otherwise I'd just be spinning at 120rpm watching the other person moving away from me.

mmmm Gelato! We aren't bringing anything really track/fixie specific other then a set of ellipse wheels and possibly a paddy-wagon or two to the show. As for clothing, I know Giordana makes our team clothing in lengths.

I think people maybe don't get the idea of a matched sprint. Toby was telling me about his time in the sprints. I was telling him "in matched sprints times don't count that's not the point at all, they aren't timed". That's what the flying 200/kilo etc. is for. Keith was suggesting riders doing a flying 200 time, which would be cool if people want to know what their all out sprint time is. A matched sprint is as much about strategy, psyching the other rider out and trying to read when the sprint will start. I think that is way more fun than just hammering off the line. I mean it is all good, but maybe people should get an explanation of what the idea of a matched sprint is just so they know. I mean if people understood the idea of a matched sprint they might want to do it. Just a thought.

word. That was the idea of the flying 200 I think, just to get people's rough times so that we could better pair people up for the sprints. Plus then we (and by 'we' I mean 'Will') don't have to be dinking around with stop watches all night.

Re: Long arms. I too skin my knuckles on the pavement when walking and can't find a proper fit. I wonder if people with long limbs tend to enjoy cycling more and therefore stick with it?
I bought one of the Trackstar hoodies because of the slim fit, long arms, and back pockets. I got a L. Arms not long enough, returned for an XL arms barely long enough. And this coming from a hoodie that boasts long arms. sheesh.

Time on gelato is up for grabs. Meet-up point is also up for grabs. Any suggestions?
Anytime in the evening is good for me, and the meet-up should be fairly central to accommodate both East and West-siders.

You do 1 flying 200 time at the start of the evening...while you are still fresh. These times are recorded. From week to week you can see if you are faster or slower...if the gear change you made resulted in any significant difference etc. The rest of the night we do match sprints based on times....or just race whoever. These can be rolling starts or standing starts...whatevs the folks racing want. Its all in good fun and whatever we do is all good.

I figure I did around 5 or 6... I felt great on the first run and felt a steady decline from there on in but had a ton of fun on every last one.

Dolce makes their own as well. I've never tried Sicilian's, although I do plan on it someday. Would it be wrong for us to go to... both places?

Probably won't make it to the gelato gathering.. the weather bummed me out (I had to put on my fleece sweater, boo).
PS, saw this on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=4952640100&ref=nf for those that haven't seen it, a screening of the Flying Scotsman on Saturday night.
