Question: I'm just thinking ahead if I decide to move, assuming you don't have a basement to put your bikes in, and you don't really want them in your 'living' area, where do people keep their bikes?

i keep 3 bikes on a wall next to my bed, so it's in my living area, but they are more or less out of the way ... in my last apartment i kept my bike in the living room
i wouldn't sweat it aslong as you have a free wall or a little area to keep them stacked
some places you can also get storage areas, including small 3-4 story buildings

Shiftless bum
I have three bikes in my foyer on two of these:

We have a 2 bedroom.. I put a rubberized hook into a ceiling beam just inside the front door from which I hang my commuter. The rest of my bikes are in the guest bedroom most of the time. If we have someone staying with us I just shuffle things around and perhaps move one or two into our bedroom. I'm planning on setting up some sort of rack system though, but I'm not sure yet how I'm going to go about doing it. I think a vertical setup like Cam's would work best, but I'd like to have a number of them side-by-side and I don't want to deal with having to have that many big ass 4x4's in there. I've been thinking about just mounting a single 4x6 or something horizontally on the wall, screwing it into a stud (uhhuhuhh). I'm just not sure how many bikes I could support that way.

for the winter i have my gt in the living room, although my girlfriend hates it.
i was keeping it in the basement, and the commuter in the garage until a friend moved in with us.
now he's got the basement apartment, and the bike is above the tv.

If you can mount hooks on the wall or on the ceiling you can fit about a bike per foot. The best way is to alternate hooking on front wheel/back wheel as you go down the line. If anyone ever needs dirt cheap-ass wall hooks, I've got a few dozen that we used when C.T. was upstairs at our location.
PS. We keep our bikes in the closet off the kitchen. It's the underside of the staircase leading up to our neighbour's apartment and I think it's pretty much maxed out right now at two bikes.

So I was clearing out the closet tonight trying to figure out what I can hock off on craigslist and while I was at it started organizing some clothing to give to some place Goodwill-ish. I live at Harbord/Ossington ... anyone know offhand a place close to hear that accepts donations? Between the gf and I we can probably put together a couple of garbage bags worth of clothing, so I'd rather not try and hump that too far.

Happy New Year Toronto crew, happy riding in 2008! It was slippery as hell out today, I saw quite a few riders (and peds) take a header.
I found a Trek for sale today and I bought it for parts, does anyone need a 7-speed Shimano gear setup? Just the RSX 100 derailleurs and the shifters but they are in great condition. If not, I will just leave them on the frame and donate it all to CBN (the frame is cracked but I am sure they can use it, it looks repairable).
Value Village at Bloor/Lansdowne? A percentage of their profit goes to charity, MS, if memory serves.
