In the most basic sense, yes. As in, it's easy to find some trails and ride. But there is an amazing amount/diversity of riding in there (over 100km of trails according to Ted), so having a 'tour guide' isn't a bad idea. My first intro is usually just the 'flats', which is the trail that runs mostly alongside the Don river from just North of Pottery Road up to around Thorncliffe Park.
You're totally free to come in with us on the DSR ride obviously, or I can take you in for an intro tour on the weekend.

the DSR rides are hard because of work. I may take you up on the intro tour this weekend. I'm thinking a morning, is there one that works best for you?

At this point I don't really have any preference, but it's more a matter of what my cronies and the weather forecast say.

Anyone have a mountain bike in decent condition that'd fit someone 5'7" (and that you'd be willing to lend out for a morning/afternoon)? I'd like to take the missus out for an intro to dirt ride.

Seeing as it's 5:06 and I'm already in my riding gitch I guess I'm going to head to the Don a bit early and futz around. See you all there.

Dan, I hear at Baskin Robbins they give you a free ice cream cone on your birthday. Do you get a free bike at Cervelo?

I'm not sure. If someone else wants them, sell them. I thought I was picking up a nice mtb frame, but the guy hasn't gotten back to me in a few weeks. I emailed him today again about it.

bah pedal chewed up finger (chain ring through middle finger), and im all outta bandaids... i'll see what i can do but looks like im not going to make it (no gloves, no bandaid, big flapper, and the don dirt might not be the most sanitary way to deal with it)

mine hasn't been ridden in a while... i'm not sure how well the gears are working at the moment but otherwise it really ought to be used more.

by the way guys (and girls) - as you may know, i'm in the process of packing/moving and i'm trying to clear out some cycling stuff. i went through my closet today for the usual spring cleaning and goodwill donation gathering and i realized i have a pile of jerseys and caps that i'm never going to use. i'd rather they get used for their intended purpose so if anyone wants to take a jersey or two off my hands for nada please let me know. most will fit a tall skinny guy (mediums/larges) and are short sleeved. for instance i have an protour lotto-adecco jersey, some castellis, nalinis and at least one pair of brand new dickes double knee pants (good for rolling up or cutting off for knickers). shout if you're interested.

Had a really fun ride in the Don with the ever growing DSR Dirt crew. We seem to have lost Cam early and I hope he's ok...
Shiftless bum
Yep, I think I took the wrong track and after looking around for you guys for a while my rear brake hanger failed. No harm done, but I headed out right after as riding a front brake only didn't seem to be the best idea ever.
