I hate driving in this city. My day is so much nicer when I ride to work.

Good you're ok though. My accident early in the summer was the same thing. Idiot pulling out into my path, my evasive turn wiped me out on the street car tracks.

"Be more careful - there's drivers like me around!" would be more appropriate.

Granted I cheated with a hill (Wilson east toward Yonge) and the wind going east tonight was just blissfully at my tail But hell, these kinds of speeds are pretty fun/crazy
edit: this is in gross contrast to my westbound rides since Wednesday, given the lovely wind I've been struggling at times to get even to 14mph - and anything below 16mph starts to get into painful mash territory with this ratio, so tonight was just wonderful

I hit 63, my fastest ever recorded speed so far (39.5mph) - I equaled my prior best on Wednesday night going across Eglinton west from Victoria Park down toward Bermondsey/Sloane with 37.2. Gets pretty unnerving over a certain pedal-RPM

For Thanksgiving my buddy and I rented a cottage in the Ottawa valley to do some road riding. We spent almost 20 minutes climbing this hill out of Gatineau (spl?) and when we doubled back we hit 85 going back down. Let me tell ya, being two inches off a tire in front of you at that speed is scary but coming out of the draft and feeling turbulance at that speed is scarier! What was the best was realising dudes in the tour beat that by another 20kph.......*******s

The hill coming down the back side of Kelso- Bell school line, is a straight drop of about 120m over less than a km. I hit over 60 on lil hauler last summer and it could have been faster if I paid more attention to aerodynamics.
My best is ~78 on the litespeed. Also, while on my litespeed coming down the hill on brock with my buddy Robb, we were over 60... which isn't such a huge deal except he was on my mountain bike. I'm still not sure how he pulled that off.

Haha wow :O
I think I'd want a freewheel on the back and another brake for those hills That's just insane.
Sounds like I need to get my road bike out some more

on my bike trip we hit 75km/h with gear down a hill... and the only reason is, is because we got chased into it by a very big guard dog
but yea that was on a freewheel not a fixed gear

Well, I went out there tonight, at around 5:40 and just got back in. As expected, the core is nice and slushy / wet, while any side streets are an icy death trap. Normally, I don't mind icy roads, except it seems people are driving waaay too fast without understanding road conditions.
I might just have to order that cross frameset if we're gonna get owned again this winter.

^^^I almost got rear-ended in my car earlier tonight while dropping off some crap to Bike Pirates. I heard a skidding sound behind me and saw a car sliding towards me in my rearview mirror. When they came to a stop I would guess they were only inches from my bumper. The most ridiculous part is that I had been stopped for a good 15 seconds or so at this point, so they had plenty of time to safely come to a stop. Oy!

Speaking of sketch, Bracondale hill (the road which continues north after Shaw meets Davenport), was a sheet of ice. You could see the polished mirror surface where car tyres had skidded their way down that road. I totally ate crap on that hill tonight, but I will take the typical male approach and blame my Rubino tyres To be fair, they are tread-less down the center, which isn't ideal for bad weather.

i saw a crash today... one car stopped, one kept going, the crunched, then hit a streetcar.
i asked if they needed help, then when they both said they were fine.
then some drunk **** head kicked my rear wheel and ****ed 4 spokes

Many years ago when I lived in Whistler, every spring they would run an event on this quite long and steep run on Whistler Mountain called The Saddle. They would groom it at night and it would then freeze solid and smooth. In the morning before the sun softened it, they would run mountain bikes with studded tires down it. It was a straight runout, so the inevitable spills would not cause too much pain, but they would hit speeds of over 130. It was quite something to watch.

This week has been kind of hilarious in terms of the amount of mishaps. This means we've met our quota and can have an accident-free winter now, right?
