I'm bringing my own lunch to save a little money haha.
If you'd like, we could set up a little picnic outside on the parking lot of the restaurant, while the rest of them eat inside

anyways, I'm not working at Urbane anymore cause I was let go.
reason is that theres too many full-time mechanics hired recently and I was just a part-time apprentice.
oh well. I still get my deals and I also got this:

i'm trying to get hooked up with a messenger job for a bit this summer
and I'm also now free to go bother eyefloater at his job!

Yes, something like this: https://www.lookatentertainment.com/v/v-1338.htm <-- work safe link (I think)

And you have to make the sounds too.

I have a rim built on a campy hub with a clawz freewheel if you want to SS it.

Hey sr20det, I was in Urbane today and was wondering if their store brand frames are any good? Specifically the 26" commuter/mtb frame and the 700c commuter frame. What's the frame warranty like? Anyone else who has any experience w/ them feel free to weigh in. And is there any reason to avoid Duke's on Queen?

I keep getting this feeling like I'm gonna get arrested or something for running red lights when all the other cyclists I see actually stop and wait. And there's not enough donut stores.

[e] BTW, anyone know any stores that sell Konas besides Duke and Cyclepath? I remember hearing something about Cyclepath not being that great either. I could be wrong though. Kona's website only came up w/ 4 dealers w/in 10 miles of downtown and I know there's a lot more bike stores nearby. Maybe Cycle Solutions?

the cyclepath at bloor and landsdowne isn't half bad ("sweet pete's cyclepath"). i seem to remember them selling konas. it seems like all the employees ride and i've never received any attitude.

as for the urbane frames, i've had two of the 700 commuter frames and no complaints here. pretty no-frills, cro mo frame for commuting, although i've used mine for long rides. for a $300 frame, you get what you pay for. i like that the newer ones have room for fenders and have mounts for such. a nice detail not typically found in less expensive cro-mo frames.
i know a few others out there have urbane frames, somnabulant for one, any others want to comment?

at first I wanted to bring my GT to test it out... but I'm going to wimp out and just rent.
I'm not too into the "crashing my own bike on the first ride" type-of thing.

Regarding cyclepath, the one up at Yonge/Englinton has always treated me VERY nice. Even back when I had a massive beater bike with panniers.

Yeah, I second the Sweet Pete's. Plus Mr Cavernmech recommended them to me for fancy mountain bikes, and I trust his judgement (potentially to my detriment, what with all the scotch talk).

I agree - the floor staff are great and very helpful. However, the head (I assume) mechanic is one surly dude. He wrapped my bar tape backwards on a build and we had a argument in store about it, ending with him basically telling me I'm stupid and know nothing. Now my bar tape is curling up at the edges and I need new tape after only 300km - thanks! I tried to take it off and reapply but the glue was stuck to the bars. The gearing also was chunky as hell and needed a fair bit of tuning. In sum, I'd stay away from (some of) their wrenches but if you ever need a custom order or a mid-range part, they're a great place to go. Fairly expensive, though.

I was in NYC (Manhattan) last summer for a couple of days. We were walking around and not one person or bike stopped for a red just walked right through even with cars flowing!
Lots of nice fixies there and beater bikes with big baskets delivering food, you wont see that here!

Here red means stop, just drilled in our head i guess? For the most of us anyway.
Cheers
