Damn, it's been a bad week for cyclists everywhere - Tdf, you, me, probably a bunch of others...

You could, but there's no super on duty. I'll email the owner tonight to hook anyone up who's interested.

Here's a run-down on the fixie garage for the couple of questions:

Building address 1490 Dundas St East. One apartment is opening in this building and there's one "in back". Building is three stories with, I think, eight units each (I think, or ten). Back building is two stories with either four or six apartments. No out of suite storage <-- sucks hard. Hydro cost in the winter: hard to say as I just moved in in March. I think a two month bill was around $110 or so. Shrink wrapping the windows would likely help immensely though I didn't bother. Give me another week or so and my place will be suitable for informal inspections.

PM me with anything else to keep the thread clean.

Shiz, sorry to hear about your mishap. Hope you're okay.

I have a bleedy graze running down the side of my right forearm along the bone and a slightly sprained left wrist. The stem (threadless) got twisted around on my bike which I fixed while I was waiting for the police to show. It twisted in such a way that it loosened the spacers and top cap so I could just take them off with my fingers. I couldn't find any obvious damage to the bike except for some chewed bar tape where the bar took off the sideview mirror and where the bars hit the curb. Pretty much the exact same crash as when I hit the taxi and my fork got bent that last time. I'm going to swing by europe bound or urbane on the way back home so they can give it a quick look over in case I missed something. Thanks for the concern though, I'm still as pretty as ever.

Pull that fork and have a real good look at the steerer tube. What you are describing could be a bent or cracked steerer. Not likely but possible. Better safe than sorry.

Jesus .... Thank GOD you're still pretty. I tell ya, that curb lane is the kiss of death. I like the yellow line and lane splitting for this reason exactly. I tried riding in nicely today and many times had to left side pass cars that had mashed themselves over to the curb making it impossible to move. Especially you fixie guys who can't stop on a dime, leave yourselves an escape vector. Glad you be ok Shiz. Purdy boy... the gf will be relieved.

and don't forget the risk of striking a pedal on the curb.

see? I'm not a fixie guy so that didn't even slip in there...good point, evn more reason to stay away from the curb O death. Is brakeless illegal here? I can see the police and courts maybe having an issue with brakeless traffic riding?

Well it goes to show you how effective the bus/taxi/bike lane is on bay st! The guy should not have even been in the lane to hit me as he was not turning right... I also appreciate how taxis use it lane as their parking lot and how buses are always swerving in and out of it with reckless abandon. Passing buses on the left is always dicey becuase they don't wait for you to get by, they lane change left while you're still there. I'm really suprised this has been the first collision I have been in on my commute though. How is traffic on front street from bathurst to bay during morning and afternoon rush hour? I think I need to change my route to avoid adelaide and bay. I also seem to remember front street between bathurst and bay having terrible condition roads but I'm more willing to deal with that than more cars...

The two times I have had cops around after collisions they have looked at my bike and not mentioned that it has no brakes.... they probably just don't notice or care but there is a slim chance it could be a problem... Aren't the rules here just about being able to stop in a given distance?

Bay and Front street you'll see lot's of cops there giving out tickets to drivers whom are still in the yellow zone when the light changes to red but I have yet to see the cops give tickets to cabs and cars parking in the Bike/bus lane

I think the official rules state that you need to have a braking system strong enough to be able to lock up the rear wheel, or something else redonkulous like that. I think we're all more than capable of that... especially sr20det.
