I always see this guy riding around on a hideous purple coloured cyclops track bike. The color is disgusting, but the bike itself is totally sweet. I also dig that cyclops is canadian and theres really not enough canadian track stuff out there. If I found a cyclops track bike in my size I'd probably shell out a fair buck for it assuming I like how it rides. I ride a sort of trackish geometry bike (spicer AL) and I think I could deal with some steeper angles (not for really long rides though). That and I believe that cyclops is out of production so they will only get rarer

Oh I certainly don't need one - I just want one so I can experiment on it. I ride around every day on a POS converted Raleigh cruiser.

Sure! How hard could it be? Let's hook up a time and I'll grab your id and go in and write them for you. What's the worst that could happen.

I'm not sure if the sons are carrying on. I love the graphics on this one.

That is Radek's bike. I sold it to him. I am not a big fan of purple..but...that paint job is actually more than one colour. When you see it in bright sunlight it changes colour from purple to bronze when you look at a different angle. Not my style? Yes....hideous?...well to each his own I guess.

Oh....I forgot. Also there were a few Cyclops track frames for sale on Canadian Cyclist's website. His son's were selling off excess inventory. From what I am to understand they will not be carrying on with the family business.

I've emailed the son, Marcel, to see if any are left. I'll post any response here.

The frames aren't listed on their website.

Too bad, cause the largest they have is 57 which is about 2cm too small for me at a minimum.

I hear your pain on finding a half decent frame/fork online. I found a 59 cm Sannino, identical to gokiburi's. The bike shop wanted $1300 USD for the frame and fork alone There was a cherry 57 cm Sannino pursuit frame that went for $200 USD. makes me weep.

I wish I'd jumped on a couple of frames when I started looking about a year and a bit ago. It seems anything remotely my size is priced way out of reach. I'm better off buying a new Marinoni or something...
la bicicletta is one of my fav stores. mechanics know their stuff and they have all the parts you need. anyway, often times when im' in there i see a lto of rossins on display on a rack... so i think there's a fair chance it's available.

as for emailing/etc,. just call them. they're local (eglinton/dufferin)

I'm going to hold out for something else.
yeah, plenty of excellent frames avaialble on ebay you can get around $300/$350 cdn...

Keith, there's discussion in the main forum about clips and straps vs. clipless.

I'm happy with my current setup but I wanted to ask you since you'd be a good judge: what do you see messengers around town preferring, or is it evenly split?

Edit: got my spell on.

Fixie guys are going to clips and straps more and more. It can be a ***** finding a decent pair of pedals but they have their advantages. Firstly...if you use good quality straps you will never pull out unintentionally while skidding. I did this using Time pedals in a skid comp many moons ago....the results were not pretty. Secondly....if you find yerself off the bike walking alot then a good pair of sneakers are preferable to walking around like a duck in clipless shoes. I found I was getting some hip and knee problems because of the constant beating my joints took from all the marble and concrete when I was messing. Went to soft soles and the problem went away really quick. And yer typical clipless shoe looks like something Walt Disney puked on, so the style factor can play a part as well. I still use clipless for racing and long jaunts...but clips for city riding.

If your looking for some clipless shoes that aren't ass ugly I recommend checking out pricepoint.com... I picked up a pair of 661 Launch shoes that have soft sole and are spd for under 70 canadian when all was said and done. They also have some selle shoes for the same price in a wider variety of sizes. Be careful tho cause the 661 shoes fit a little small so I'd say go a size up on whatever your other cycling shoes are. I much prefer clipless simply for ease of use and much better power transfer... I just can't get the hang of the clips and straps.

He's my hero! You can't give love to a sidekick who's battle cry is "Not In The Face! Not In The Face". And the buckling in adding an avatar is just my lack of computer skills......just figured out how to do it. ROOKIE!!

gokiburi> you are now in japan, eh? genki desu ka. unfortunately, we will be like ships passing in the night...or planes passing in the sky. where will you be staying in japan? i will be back home for the holidays in only 48 hours and am damn excited!! i will stay for almost 3 weeks!! totemo tanoshimi!!

i can usually be found between parkdale to riverdale, and sometimes in johnny`s backyard on parliament with a latte and funny cigarette. look for the grey steamroller with white rubinos and saddle, and come say "hi".

also, i never had problems riding clipless and messing for a few years, winters included, but i am interested in trying clips/straps simply for wanting to ride without specific shoes. most recently, i raced kyotoloco2005 without problems and placed 8th.
