I am actually getting a car on the road tomorrow. I try to make myself feel better by thinking I'll now be able to take several people to the track.

Yeah same here. I'm an idiot. I need to tape my bars, haven't gotten around to it. On this ride I'll be glad of tape.

As for the fire place, I haven't had anyone in to inspect it yet but the plan is to make full use of it.
Spiral fracture in the hand = not so much fun. Got a meeting w/ the plastics surgeon on Tuesday. Remember kids, save yourself the hassle - use the u-lock.

PS. Anyone who wants to go on a ride gimme a call. Heading out probably around noon (still need to eat some more), with my budy Ivo.

So, ya - he cuts in front of me, starts to park and my last ditch effort before jumping off the bike and onto the side walk was to do some emergency stopping action and punch the truck to let him know I was there/didn't want to be run over at the moment. On the bright side though, I left a really nice fist-sized dent in the sheet metal.

Er the truck was moving so fast it looked like it was strethced diagonally? Breaking your hand = worse than my week. I only had bruises on my right arm from someone changing lanes into me.

I had a good ride out west with danhalen, about 85km all said and done. Once me and dan split up I almost got in a fist fight with some ****** in a prelude with body kit and black-tinted windows.
I was waiting to cross harbord going north on roxton and of course the guy comes up and honks. I look back and wave and don't budge. He then honks again and squeezes by me, stops, rolls down his window and uses some colourful phrases to tell me I should get out of his way. I tell him I'm a vehicle, but he doesn't buy it and uses some other colourful phrases that started to make my mouth water in projectile form onto his car. He jumps out, comes toe to toe with me trying to goad me into fighting with him. He asked me to clean the spit off his car but he wasn't very polite about it so I declined. So he tries to further goad me into a fight, calling me tough guy and big man and such. I suggested maybe he was projecting himself onto me, but again he didn't seem to buy it. So he comes up and spits at my face (I guess he took my projection comment very literally!), but it kind of vaporized and went all over my jacket, so I spat back at him and he stuck his hand up to block it and the spit went into his sleeve!
At this time his girlfriend gets out of the car and tries to settle things down, but deciding she doesn't want her boyfriend mad at her, asks "WHAT DIRECTION ARE YOU TRYING TO GO? STRAIGHT? THEN GO STRAIGHT!" I thanked her for her sage advice and returned to the more pressing matter of the cro magnon trying his best to avoid getting an aggravated assault charge for fighting with me. I said that he could hit me if he wanted, but I had my buddy Ivo with me and several cyclists had stopped to watch the show, so I would call the police and he might get in trouble. He still seemed intent on fighting me, but this guy was damaging my inner harmony and when I noticed a gap in traffic I crossed harbord north and went home.
Why can't people just wait behind me at intersections when they want to turn right? He wasted both our time trying to miseducate me on legal road use, and my black jacket has spittle marks on it. I guess its considered manly to want to fight someone straddling a bike in look cleats who has just biked 85km in the cold and is short on calories.

What's up w/ all the T.dot Fixed fisticuffs lately? We've seriously got to stop punching so much ****.
Update: so my postings about the KHS/Pake frames came back with some interesting responses. One was a guy who has a "56" Surly Crosscheck (check the geometry for that one on the Surly site). That's too big for me, but maybe someone out there is interested in it and wants to trade something to me for it? Basically he'd get my Pake, you'd get his Crosscheck and I'd get? Anyway, lemmie know.

I totally didn't want to fight this guy, it was all him. Had he have spat on my bike immediately after he got out of the car I would have called it even and gone home, and I would probably have some respect for him. As it is now I'm all grumpy.

I usually sit to the left of the right turn lane, basically in the middle of the two lanes, between the cars, just so that people can get by but it sounds like this guy had a problem.

Also like Jet i go to the left of the right turn lane right on the line to avoid this type of crap.
When spiting comes out nothing good happens.
Cheers

I got one of my mountain bikes converted at cycle solutions to singlespeed for the winter 42x16 but I might make it 42x18 cause it is one heavy tough b#tch and 42x18 would be better in the snow
