That's nuts! Reminds me of the time I broke my chain TWICE in the back third of the Don Valley. Makes me sad.

Could always sacrifice a driver at Yogne and Dundas for all to see.
That will slow them down for the season.

I carved this lady's van the other day as she was sideways behind the streetcar...nose jammed into the curb lane but she had no room because of parked cars. I carve the passengers side and as the streetcar doors close whoosh I'm gone, block before my house ... I'm going to sprint up cut across Queen and head up my block. (Blinky jacket of mine, two bar lights and seat post red all on..

I hear this engine winding, she come screaming upto me as I'm slowing to left across all of Queen, her passenger and her yelling about how I should get lights as they almost killed me...(How they were going to accomplish this from a dead stop I have no idea other than capping me as I rode by).. I look down at my christmas tree outfit and bars, I do have effin lights lady!!!! You're just pissed because I'm ahead of you, if you think parking your car across two lanes claims it for you, you're wrong. Her passenger has finally noticed I light up from head to waist, and is telling Ms. Busibody so..... her disappointment in being shown just how wrong they are becoming apparent.

Needless to say the streetcar was blasting and dingin' for her to get her van out of his way , and I didn't make my left safe from all traffic.... so they took their too tight hair curlers and pissed off....

Well I have a 16t cog in the back, so I'm thinking either a 34, 36 or 38

90rpm @ 16X34 = 21.4 km/h
90rpm @ 16X36 = 22.8 km/h
90rpm @ 16X38 = 24.1 km/h

The thought of spinning at 120rpm in the 16x34 and only going 28.6 km/h kinda scares me!

It seems that most stock SS MTBs come with either 16 or 17 cogs and 32 or 34 cranks, so I'm definitely in the 'traditional' zone.

I may have to copy you and do your nifty double chainring trick or something.

Time to home, get back under the covers, and try again afterwards.

I'm running 32/14 right now, and it's ok. Not as fast as the fixie of course, but it does have big chunky tires, and it's intended for sloppy snow riding. That's about a 2.29:1 ratio. If you want faster, maybe go 34/14 or something.

I'm 42/14 for the street, going to try 38/15 for the snow, or go 38/13 if needed.

For some double chainring s/s bling 38/35

Two things: regarding Suntour, has anyone seen their crazy downhill "gearbox" setup? Looks pretty interesting. Also, the Surly Mr. Whirly cranks look like another really interesting design idea. I'm still trying to figure out what type of bb they'll use.

And yes, I was jerking off to the thought of Rob's legs while my cat watched. It's a family affair.

Pretty sure it takes an external BB, like you find on most the new Shimano MTB and Road cranks. Sweet!

And yes, I do want several of these.

I'd like to say that I took the photo, because I've been hording this crank for months before unveiling it on my new super bike...but no.

350 dollars for a new quality steel bike spec'ed to my liking is pretty crazy... didn't even have to get my hands dirty!

edit: all I need to complete it is switch the triple to a single crank. Anyone have a spare mtb crank (single double or otherwise)? The one that came on the smoke has the rings riveted to the spider.
Niiiiice. Super stoked! Should be wicked fun for the snow ride. Time to get messy drunk...and messy.
