What Colin said...

Good to see you riding the other day.

Sirrobinofcoxly 02-03-07 05:41 PM

After riding the new Fetish beast SS MTB around town for the last few weeks, I finally started riding my Surly when the roads cleared up. Everything feels faster now. The sun shines brighter, food tastes better. It's going to be a huge disappointment the next time the snow falls.

TRaffic Jammer 02-03-07 06:15 PM

shhh your Fetish will hear you. There is nothing more pathetic than bike when it's sulking.

Slowest day in BF history!

What tires does everyone recommend ?

For 700c fixed.

I use some Schwalbe Blizzard sport on the front. I've run it for a year and a half with no flats. On the rear, I'm running a cheepo Serfas Speed Reflection tire. A few months so far, no flats. I go through rear tires a lot, so I'm just using the low end stuff now.

In the beginning I was using Hutchinson Fusion Long Distance tires, but they were like $80 each. Beautiful, but will break the bank if you skid.

lymbzero 02-04-07 11:02 AM

I rode Serfas Secas. At first they were good, grippy and stuff. 15 dollars!
But then turned out to be horrible tires after a month. like cheap rubber shoes that get slippery.

Met a courier named Casper today. Apparently he used to work at our other store 'bikes on wheels'. Boy is he a fast talker.

I've met Casper before, he's a nice guy.

As for tires, I've had some Schwalbe Stelvios for almost a year, no flats so far with little wear, they are pretty damn grippy too, they're on my road bike though so I can't say how well they'll hold up for skidding.

Sirrobinofcoxly 02-04-07 08:23 PM

i don't know; anyone who rides around like that with their bars two feet below the saddle is trying a bit too hard.

I talked to Kasper at Biseagal on friday. Yeah super nice guy. He gave me some stainless steel toeclips and a pair of cycling pants that he brought back from Denmark. Have any of you guys seen the website for that documentary on Toronto bike messengers that came out a few years ago? Kasper is in it. Here's a segment that he's in:

The stem is raised up quite a bit. It's not that big of a drop really. Why the negative vibes? I think it's beautiful!

You can be our official bike messenger liaison.

That's track, and it's effing beautiful. I could see why you might set it up different if you work on the bike, but I wouldn't change a thing.

No no you don’t ride it, you just hang it on the wall, it dose look dam nice but i could not imagine riding it. I’m now on my second set of track drops gotta say not a big fan (for the street). i need to get me some nice flat ergo road drops & be done with it.

BTW, for those dying to know. I skated the Ottawa canal today good fun.

Oh you lucky Devil. My GF and I tried skating a couple weeks ago. Me, years since I last laced up, and her, from California. We were a pair of deuces out there. Useless!

I must say that I really enjoy my bullhorns for practical city riding. I would like some hot unwrapped gold drops for joy rides, and showing off at critical mass :p

shapelike 02-04-07 09:43 PM

If that's the regular setup, the cranks on that bike tell a lot about the owner.

duppy.conqueror 02-04-07 09:47 PM

Geez man this persons bike confiscated 'cause riding brakeless? seems kinna harsh!

Sirrobinofcoxly 02-04-07 09:55 PM

Now here's a real high seat, low bar setup
