I think he got off easy. I would have forced him to cut off his own finger yakuza style. I recently got a set of left-handed japanese steel as a gift. I don't think I"ll ever use anything else again.

The best thing about a home deep fryer is the thin layer of grease which sticks to every surface in the kitchen, and how if you close your eyes and inhale through your nose anywhere in the house you could swear you were in the kitchen of a wendy's and also how you have a nice bowl of used oil sitting on your countertop at all times. Due to these amazing features I tend to do shallow pan frying if I must. Alas, I will not be able to batter and fry novel objects, but this has never before been a problem for me.

Just get a good deep fryer with a proper filter that you wash after each use and replace once every few months. There is nothing that can replace real french frys done in veal kidney fat. Nothing.

I have an outdoor one too. I originally aquired it to deep fry turkeys but have since realized that having parties where everyone just brings something to deep fry is much more fun.

I am ready to ****ing EXPLODE. ARGGGHHH the rims on my track bike are IMPOSSIBLE to get tires on and off of. I have already broken two tire levers and I've NEVER had this much trouble with tires before. I just got them mounted and then noticed that the valve in the rear one wouldn't hold air. So now I have to take the ****ing things off again. And I only have one tire lever left. This is unfriggenbelievable. I haven't been this frustrated in like ever!!!$%$! :mad: Wow... I feel surprisingly a lot better after the above rant :). Thankyou. I love you all.

I tell you, have a deep fried snikers bar and all will be better. As for the tire, I had to use a thin flathead screwdriver to get my 1.0 slicks of my rims. Some carefull prying, gentle tugging and swearing like a sailor got them off. Hated those tires

I had a pair of Continental Contacts like that. Luckily I had some Canadian Tire metal levers. That said, I'm probably going to buy a set of the heavy duty Park levers as my next tool purchase (after the big ass pedal wrench).

Weird, what rims are they? I hate those cheap Continental Ultra Sports for that, they are a *****h to mount but I always thought it was the rubber, not the rim. Aren't the rims all the same and the rubber is what would be different each time?

Those ultrasports are cheap I think because they are so hard to mount. However for $12.50 that lasted 6000km, I have no regrets.

each rim / tire brand is bound to have slight variances in size. i know i've had troubles mounting vittoria rubinos on ma3s. in the end i used some old MTB levers from the 90s called "milk levers" or something. about twice as wide as average and stiff as a board.
what tire / rim combo are you attempting?

as for the deep frying, i can see the appeal to having one so you can experiment. you'll find the novelty wears off once you stand in front of one all day at work. a deep fried mars bar would be wicked though. i think i saw them for sale in scotland when i was there in 98, along with deep fried sausages, spam patties, every manner of fish and just about everything they could get their hands on.

queen west and bellwoods. north side of queen, across from 7-11 and the "Done Right Inn" ( if you're drinking there they'll let you order from the bellwoods and bring it to the bar!!) as far as dumpster diving goes, my table is sitting on an antique trunk i pulled off the curb about 2 months ago at college and bathurst. storage and a living room table in one! oh yeah, i carried it on my shoulder while riding my bike in the snow. i got a lot of looks that night!

The tires in question are not cheap by any means. They are Vittoria Open Corsas and the rims are NOS Ambrosio (not sure of the model name but they are polished box-section rims). I've found Vittorias a bit more difficult to mount in general, at least with the Zaffiros and Rubinos that I've had.

The rims are defintely a factor as well though because the Serfas Secas that I have a couple of pairs of go onto or off of my Alex rims or Velocitys so easily but they are much much harder to get onto these Ambrosios. Difficult tire + difficult rim = I go crazy! I snapped another tire lever after my last post. I'm going to have to get some beefy levers for this combo. Damn I just want to try out the tires and I had to give up until I get better levers! What a frustrating evening!

Who would have though? Italian tire + Italian rim should work fine right? I'm pretty sure I am far from the first person to mount Vittorias onto Ambrosios. haha "mount".

YES! That reminds me, I miss Marks and Spencer. They had wicked scotch eggs. Oh yeah.
