As per the earlier discussion, the secret to gaining weight is eating often. You can only eat so much at a time of course. Eat snacks between every meal and eat hearty meals of course. Try seeing if you can max out the recommended servings on Canada's food guide. If you want to gain healthy weight don't just eat fatty stuff. Just eat a lot of stuff (especially a LOT of grains and fruit/vegetables). Worked/is working for me so far man. If you workout while eating like that you WILL gain weight for sure. And you'll feel great and not full/****ty like some other methods of weight gain.

My Silvia will be celebrating her second birthday this summer - well worth the investment, but it was the start down a long road of coffee-nerddom. Have you tried roasting your own green beans in a popcorn maker?

Yep, but the heater gasket is not an o-ring but a flat gasket as my Euro is old enough to have the copper heating element. Prices aren't the issue with Faema, but their service. I have to "call back on Wednesday" to talk to their tech to see if they have the part. Which really means, I'll call back on every Wednesday for the next three weeks to talk to someone who knows which way is up. And I'll stop the story there...

Not looking to start a road vs mtb war. I have lots of respect for people who race road. I have raced, organized and managed teams, and volunteered in all the different disiplines of cycling. I can say in my experience that mtb racing is by far the most enjoyable of the bunch. Not only is the mood and attitude better but the events are much better organized as well. I dont mean to dump on road racing. If thats what you want to get into, all the power to you. But from a perspective of being a novice and just jumping in, mtb is friendlier. For anyone interested in road the Midweek Club is a great start. Good organization and a great resource for learning the ropes to get in a road race.
My shop was a co-sponsor of the Midweek team several years ago when Peter was still around.

On another topic. Went up to Milton with Bradyn last night to pick up his new bike. Spokes and Slopes. That place is a virtual museum of old bike stuff. The owner kept pulling all these old TI bottom brackets and White Industries wheelsets out of the dusty confines of the storeroom. If he ever had the time he could make a killing on E-Bay. Really nice old guy. I asked him if he sold any used bikes. He told me he had a few. In the end I found an old 80's Vitus road bike. Red anodized frame. Complete Suntour Superbe Pro Group except for 600 pedals and Campy cranks. Mavic rims and TTT bar and stem. It needs cleaning up but otherwise in great shape. I dont want to divulge exactly what I paid for it but suffice it to say I paid less than my last bottle of single malt scotch. SCORE!

Not yet. My home coffee making is being handled by a couple bialetti moka pots and a bodum french press. Roasting my own is probably a little overkill. Definitely something I'd like to try sometime, but laziness is also definitely a factor.

I must get out there spinnin' to build up some endurance type muscles. I have an ancient base of mileage that helps me with handling and skills and such, but I definitely need to build up some legs and lungs for any type of racing. Looking forward to being on a 24 team, if one will have me.
