If you have 170s... i'll take those :)

I might be interested in doing this... 25kms/hr is fine for a few hours but I'm not sure if I can keep it up for a double century!

Farthest I've done was a metric century... and that was on my road bike. What is a realistic starting point for this thing fitness wise?

Obviously I didn't read the fine print. I'm IN!!!!

In other news: Zippered, I think I found a light mount that should work with your Planet Bike light. How best to get it to you?

operator 04-03-07 08:43 PM

Cam check pm

Wow, I didn't check the forums until now. Thanks for posting that awesome photo Colin :( Colin and I both mastered riding with one leg over the bars and then sort of transitioning from that into a crappy awkward skid. Did anyone else feel let down by the "tricks" aspect of the night? I mean the being on bikes part was cool and the hanging out part was cool but I dunno... tricks are kind of um boring. I prefer riding. Maybe it's just me. Jumping off of stuff/riding down stairs and stuff on a bmx or mountain bike those kind of tricks are fun :D

I really want to do the off-road ride friday. If I get my mountain rig moving before then and I haven't gone home to my folks' place by then, then I'm in too.

Oh, and go to Dumpling House on Spadina. Seriously it's awesome. Monday night I went there twice!

i think increacing your distance from 100km+ is a good launching point. what i did was start w/ 200kms and ride at 25lm/hr no matter what (not pushing) forcing myself to eat regularly and drink regularly. and get off the bike and stretch every once in a while. obviously having a spedometer helps. in a nutshell i would say just ramp up your distance every week until you reach a weekly total of about 300 km. the week before do a 200km or so ride and take a rest day the day following. you shoud be good to go. i'm always amazed at what the human body can do if you just push it a little and don't take no for an answer...

i would personally try some longer rides (like a 200 km brevet as Wes said) before i would attempt a double century. But, from my experience, a long ride on a fixie is no more diffucult than a long ride on a road bike (i've done 200km+ rides on both). in fact, long miles on a fixie help keep your legs from cramping as they have no time to sit idle and build up lactic acid.

*Stephen* awesome job on the video! Nice footage. The Sunny/Sean quotes at the end were so good.

when you're rolling in 5 hours after the lead group it feels a bit strange. that said, this is not a typical 300km ride so 15 hours isn't all that bad i suppose...

have you got you're recumbent yet or what? haven't seen you on the road in a while.

STEEKER 04-03-07 09:52 PM

four months no riding but the recumbent is comming soon , then training for randonneuring, wanna do the 400K ?

I have them on the s/s project I'm working on, so yes and no. The 170 cranks are the shimano exage I have on the red rocket.

If you need to trade for 170's no problem. I think the dura ace are a touch better than the shimano exage sports I'm running now. All yours though if you want to trade.
