Yeah, I'm a huge proponent of public transit, yet the TTC and everyone on it totally enrages me. But, I also probably have the TTC to partly thank for me "rediscovering cycling". :P

I don't think the Spring bike show is as much about the crazy deals as it is about people buying new complete bikes. The Fall bike show is more of a "blowout sale", although even that is pretty lame unless you're looking for clothes or minor accessories (racks/fenders/computers/etc).

If the weather holds up for Saturday, I vote we all get together for some lunch and beers some place in the afternoon.

ps. all the painkiller talk makes me feel like I missed something good by avoiding them when I hurt myself during the holidays. :P

Good idea-Saturday is good for me. It is supposed to be warm on the weekend too. Anyone tried that Burrito Boys place-I've been meaning to give it a shot, but I always end up slurping noodles instead.

Offhoff 03-08-06 01:48 PM

The halibut burrito boyz burrito is, as they say here, the jam. Noodles though are also very very good.

I can't deal with the fact I'm still waiting to get my frame powdercoated, so frustrating now that the weather is getting better. Its times like this when I wish I had motorized wheels so that I could get my frame out to a powdercoater without having to wait for a drive.

TRaffic Jammer 03-08-06 01:49 PM

Can you PLEASE jam a few more people on the Queen car, I haven't contracted active TB yet, and make sure all the windows are shut in the winter I HATE breathing that fresh air.

gokiburi 03-08-06 01:53 PM

noodles over burritos any day.. anyone notice a glut of burrito places suddenly popping up?! ok, so 3 isn't exactly a glut.

man that's where i learned to mountainbike. since bayview ave has been extended through to lake wilcox the trails are just not the same, nor are they as many. from my place in parkdale it's about a 30-40km trip. that takes me back...

Has anyone EVER been to "Rancho Relaxo" on College.... I have to go just for the name.

Offhoff 03-08-06 02:08 PM

The rancho isn't nearly as good at sneaky dees at college and bathurst.

32flavours 03-08-06 02:22 PM

My funk band played its first ever show on the second floor of Rancho. It was sketchy. But the downstairs seems more classtacular.

TRaffic Jammer 03-08-06 02:23 PM

Get the funk out!!!!

ahh.. the disease.. that should be another post-ride destination. nothing like nachos and beer to replenish the bodily fluids.

Hey man, did you have this thing parked outside of 10/20 bay street down at Queen's Quay the other day? I was eyeballing an IRO with bullhorns on it while I was slacking off at work... did you order the frame up from NY? Or is someone importing them locally?

My roommate and another friend are taking their frames out to byers-bush/ jet kote (thanks for the advice on the phone cavernmech!) sometime in the next two weeks - if you want you could probably send it out with theirs, or hitch a lift with them, no sweat. Lemme know :)

cavern is selling iro frames. perhaps other shops as well?

ventolin 03-08-06 02:56 PM

Ah! Goes to show I need to visit the cave more often!

That would be something, 322 km in one day on a fixie. I am planning to do that ride this year, if it isn't 35C like it was last year. But I think I will be doing it with a geared bike.

TRaffic Jammer 03-08-06 03:13 PM

I think I'm going to have to go there and see what I might be able to get built for a 40th. I was pretty bummed by everyone passing my needs off to "go see the custom frame builder"

What should I do with this crammerotti i got.... 48cm

sr20det 03-08-06 03:24 PM

funny bike!

Offhoff 03-08-06 03:25 PM

Do you have a picture of the crammerotti it might fit me and I'm always looking for a new fun project

yeah, that was pretty damn hot! i remember driking several litres of fluid and only going to the bathroom once. the rest=sweat. i did 200km+ on a fixie on one ride last year. the hairshirt is pretty flat; i can't imagine it's that much more of an effort than on a gearie.

so you did the ride last year? were you one of the fast group? i was solo for most of it, coming in just after dark.

I have 3 frames I have to take to the powdercoater. For a small bribe of a Burrito Boyz veggie I would be happy to take yer frame out for you. l will be going out there early next week.

**** yeah.
Try the YRT sometime. It took the goddamned bus 50 ****ing minutes to go only 14.7km jesus ****ing christ. I get home and I just feel like smoking something and going to sleep.

And they're going to build a subway extension to York U. I think it's a waste of $13.5B. I'm down for Saturday. Looks like it's going to be 10deg.
