Yes, Igor is back in business. I'd hesitate to relate this to the flurry of stolen bike notices on CL of late.

Grr.. broke another spoke on the rear wheel/drive side again of my commuter Gardin.. in its past life, I think it had a nasty encounter with a rear derailleur, as the drive side spokes look like they were chewed on near the hub. I'm getting more and more motivated to do the fixie conversion I've been thinking about for so long. How cheap can I find a good (used?) rear wheel for? I think I'd prefer lockring over suicide hub...

On that note - Rob: Any word on when bikechain is re-opening? I'm desparate for a quick fix-up so that I can ride this bad boy home. (Do we even stock spokes?)

bahahah.. I'm famous!

I can't take the lane when there's 6 cars waiting at a red light.. hence why I usually go around them on the left, but the light has turned green more than one while I've been in that maneuver. Not the best solution.

Re; Crooks

That was unreal a week ago when someone posted on CL about a stolen stump jumper in High Park... and three posts above it was a post by someone "without a camera" selling a stumpjumper in the High Park area "call for a meet up". WTF. I wonder what happened with that? I hope they arranged a "meeting".

A cousin of mine got her celeste bianchi track bike stolen from her garage years back. The same day a teacher of hers saw some dude fumbling around on a bike path unable to ride it. He called her dad up. collection time. That was the first fixed bike I rode. Moral of the story is.. I don't know..

you have a point...

I just cringe 'cause I'm sure there's folks out there thinking "we fixed the gutters for you, now back where you belong!"

You couldn't get the Star to throw in your BF nickname? "Wesley Hodgson, also known as somnambulant on the most popular fixed forum (suck that Philly!) on bike forums, emailed us about the old-style sewer grates on Dewson St., near Ossington Ave. and Harbord St..."

Now if only they would deal with the wheel sucking slip magnets that criss cross hundreds of kilometers of our streets. Oh wait.

Another wonderful story about being a Toronto cyclist...Caught on tape!

In more personal news, I too joined the ranks of "hit by car" this past week, but it was a pretty good story compared to the others I've heard here lately. I was following fairly slow moving traffic on Queen, and was hovering along the lane line passing parked cars -- just outside the door zone but not quite near the streetcar track. As we passed the last parked car, the guy in front of me slowed + pulled over to the right (no signal).. I hit both brakes + skidded to a stop with my hand on his trunk. His excuse was that his passenger told him to pull over, so he did.. without looking. He was apologetic + wanted to make sure I was okay.. no damage done, so I just told him to be careful. He proceeded to pull away + make a right turn without signalling. Dumbass.
