I have a 2001 Lemond Zurich frame set that I have had for years collecting dust. I've decided to put it back together. I am looking to switch it to Campagnolo. I need help with the Bottom Bracket. The LBS told me it was a BB30 English thread but that does not seem to match what I am measuring. I pulled out a Shimano BB-5500 68 BC1.37x24
I know the shell is 68mm. Inside of the shell to be BB30 should be 42mm correct? I very likely and just measuring something wrong but am getting in the 30mm range.
I am looking at getting the press in cups so I don't have to replace the bearings on the cranks. Can I do that? Do I have to replace the bearing and get the thread in cups?

Is it:
Campagnolo OS Fit BB86-BB92 86.5x41 Ultra-Torque Press-Fit
or
Campagnolo BB30 Ultra-Torque Press-Fit 68x42

I could be off on both. Any direction would be great!

Oh heck, I'm at work or I'd take a look at my similar vintage Maillot Jaune and answer for you. I'm still running square taper on that bike but the 68X42 threading sounds right to me. Wait for others to confirm or correct though.

It's not a BB30. BB30 didn't exist in 2001. You need a 68mm english threaded bottom bracket. Spindle length depends on what cranks you have. You do not have a press fit BB shell.

I have a 2001 Lemond Zurich frameset and the BB is a regular english 68mm threaded BB...It's certainly not pressfit and not BB30. Unless some Lemond bikes were being made with some other standard at that time, and I'm pretty sure they weren't, you are looking at getting a 68mm english threaded bb. The good thing is that these bb are so very common that you can find one dang near everywhere. I'm pretty sure my Zurich originally came with some Shimano Octalink BB which I believe the BB-5500 is.

Thanks, I think that answered my question. I am looking at going to Campy from the Shimano. The Shell is threaded. I kept reading about the campagnolo "adapters" and was confused.
Sounds like I need to get the cups that thread in to the shell. The bearings on the cranks should slide into those cups correct?

As mentioned, no press fit, OS weirdness for you. Good thing IMO. If you want Campy, then Power Torque or Ultra Torque, depending on the crank you choose. Try another LBS.....

I have a 2013 Chorus Ultra Torque 11 group that I was planning on using. I was just missing the BB.
Threaded it is. I'm in a small town and its the only LBS shop in 50 or so miles. Its a good shop but I think the person helping was a bit off.

I believe you just need to get an English thread version of Campy bb
