Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I got a 2015 Domane 5.9 in red/white/black last fall. I like the Orange a lot more. You will like the bike!

The orange caught my eye. The ride convinced me to buy. Thanks.

Congratulations. I have just purchased Trek Domane 4.5. Very excited, never had a road bike before. Originally planned to but 4.3 but the difference for the upgrade just made sense. Any thoughts, reco for the bike? Best. Erkan (istanbul)

I've only had it for a few days and I have only been riding for three years with a high ignorance quotient. So, take any recommendations from me with a grain of salt.

I love it. I could've gotten a 4.5 and frankly, I am not sure I really could tell the difference once the bike was home had I gone that way. My decision was really based on one part impulse, one part not wanting to buy a bike just to save money, and another part on the fact that I could bring the 5.2 home immediately where I would have had to wait weeks for a 4.5 (connected to that impulse problem). I notice a huge difference going from Tiagra to Ultegra shifters and brakes-- my previous bike was Tiagra based. I also notice a huge difference in fit for me, which supports my decision to change bikes. The differences between the 5.2 and 4.5 are probably negligible from my perspective. A much more experienced rider would certainly know the difference better than me. The frame and fork have upgraded carbon. The 5.2 is full Ultegra versus some parts 105 on the 4.5. The handlebar is lighter and the tires are also upgraded. I think the 4.5 started from a place of excellence, so those upgrades are probably insignificant for a less experienced rider. The Sunday will be the true test. I plan on taking my first long ride on it, so we will see. But, I've gone out everyday since getting it, and it is pure pleasure.

Sorry, I can't offer better, or more decisive comments.

I hear a sound from front brakes, is that normal (105 brakes)? Do you have a similar issue? (rear brakes work nicely)
How was the sunday drive by the way?

Thanks. It was great! I'm out of shape from a sedentary winter, but the bike was so comfortable. I did make a saddle switch to a Fizik Aliante Versus X and love it. Could have gone all day.

As as for the brakes, I don't hear anything. The bike is pretty darn silent.
