Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Haha, the SAG reference is to Mr H, my ever-faithful cycling-supportive spouse, who drove SAG for us all day. Good thing is that he was able to have a meaningful conversation with coach on the whole power meter issue, so I think we may get some movement towards resolution on that. Mr. H & I were of different minds on that but after he had a chance to discuss with coach, he has come around more to my way of thinking. We'll see once he has a chance to think a little more.

So that was awesome, the opportunity for him to have that power conversation with someone knowledgable, plus riding with @sarals & company. I honestly could not ask for a better combo of people to ride with, or a better route. Just the cherry on the top of a great trip.

From the little bit I'd overhear of the conversation between Mr H and Ex, it sounded like he was close to a buy-in on the SRM. Here's hoping for you!!!

I hope to see you in June!

Went for a ride in Mesa with my daughter, a leisurely 6 mph mosey on a canal MUP and cruise through a local neighborhood. I split off when she was finished to go ride some faster pace stuff. Met up with a group ride for a local bike shop (by coincidence), very nice people, asked if I might join them for a while.
Great bunch of people and a nice pace to enjoy some conversation, but still work a little.
A nice morning ride!

Well fellow addicts, I am officially a convert. I will never wear regular shorts again.
Rode 40 in my new bibs, ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ), and I have to admit they are fantastic. Much better feel around the waist, the chamois in these bibs is best described as a little bit of crotchal heaven.

Isn't that funny? I went out in my one set of bibs day before yesterday and was cursing them the whole time despite a very comfortable crotch pad. I like the look of the kit and decided to wear them in spite of being negative about bibs vs. shorts. Well no sooner was I completely dressed than I realized that my pre-ride BM could only be give a score of incomplete at best. So I had to get totally undressed again to finish that job. Mrs. rpen even commented that she would never again dress that way because of the inconvenience of bathroom breaks.

The bib part adds insulation that is just not needed in the Houston climate even this early in the season. The waist is just as snug as any of my shorts. I find it very comfortable, sure, but just like my shorts. No improvement. I'm lucky the straps don't cause me any problem, but they don't do me any good either. All in all, I just don't get it.

I know it is a losing battle. Well, at least it is not the only minority I find my self in. I can deal. Sigh! DSFDF

A delightful huevos rancheros bowl, which is served on/with brown rice, for brunch at a place called Luxe. The coffee was just as the reviewers on Yelp said "Meh".

A funny thing happened as we were getting ready to leave the apartment. LoP said "How are we getting there?" I said "We're taking the tandem, aren't we?" He said "Well, I didn't want to be making assumptions." It really hadn't occurred to me that we might be going to brunch some way other than onthe tandem. I mean we took it to Plaid Pantry to get ice cream last night and we took it to Fred Meyer to get groceries last week. So...
