Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Very nice, RUOkie. I hope it was a great ride. The near puking part is just an added plus.

Nope. They stole the whole friggin' iPod. A 40GB device I bought with my tax refund that had a ton of my favorite songs and podcasts on it and somebody stole it from the day care center kitchen I was working in while I dashed to the store to get celery to finish the kids' lunches. A half dozen people in and out of the kitchen, all of whom had seen it in my possession, and nobody saw anyone walk out with it. Boom.

Haha, awesome. Now I don't feel so bad about not losing any weight. I guess I'm too happy. Well that's gonna be my story anyway.

Nice ride RuRu.

I made homemade granola bars for my @coasting ride tomorrow. Two kinds: chewy and crunchy. Funny thing was I said to myself, " @coasting liked to eat". There will be no MUPs and there will be lots of climbing. But a 30 mile downhill run, he would have liked that I think.

@coasting memorial ride report, Vancouver edition:

First stop, brunch at Ducktales, in Duckface's honour.

I had a Western Omelette:

Steak and Eggs with bleu cheese dressing for steak dipping for the little lady:

We rolled down Greg Biffle Blvd. Coasting was a big stock car fan, right?

Then we posed with the bike, individually:

'twas a really nice day out at the lake!!! We got to ride 3.5 miles of gravel MUP up along the lake, dunno if Ramona woulda said "We got to...", though.

We saw a field of purple flowers!

2nd rest stop, we had coffees and split a brownie:

We musta got in about 40 miles. Jury is still out on whether we go for the 66 mile Group Ride next Sat or the 34 mile route.

RIP, coasting

That's a real bummer. Was it the small one or the iPhone style because the iPhone style can have an app to locate it on wifi.

I lost mine one time at a senior citizens assisted living home. It fell down between the seat cushions of a chair in the day lounge. Using the find my iPod app, I located it and sent it a message via their wifi telling their finder to call me and it also played a short tune. I finally got a call from the center and the lady was laughing because these old people had been on an "Easter egg" hunt trying to find the noise in the room.

For the granola bars or the 30 mile downhill? Because if its for the downhill, be advised that you first have to ride your bike 30 miles up hill.

All of that, especially the bars, but the rest of it too. She seems to do a lot of neat rides.

Lester and Ramona: That tandem seems to have been a great buy. Your pics make me want to get ours out; we've only ridden it once this spring.

Nice thing about a tandem is that you always have someone to ride with and you can't get dropped!
