What do you wear in the rain as the temps go from 50 - 90 F? (Windbreaker weather on up. And light pants or shorts type weather)

I was thinking of going for a ride this morning but passed o it since all I have is a waterproof jacket and nothing else.

DO you use helmet covers or put a waterproof hat under the helmet?

Do you bother to protect the legs? If so how?

50-60 a light rain jacket will suffice for me. Any warmer than that I just get wet. Whether it's rain or sweat, you're gonna get wet.

I avoid it for the simple reason that I spend a ton of time cleaning all the crap out of the drivetrain. When I do have to ride in the rain, it's with a highly breathable rain shell (Patagonia Torrent shell). I'm going to give RainLegs a try here. They look really interesting to me.

I have a goretex jacket, it will stay in the pack on a day like you're describing. Wearing GTX while exercising at 50 F means stewing in sweat. That's not just GTX, it's anything waterproof.

Above maybe 50 to 55 F, the wind breaker is going to do as much harm as good.

You don't need to protect your legs in a warm rain. Being damp or cool in your chest or shoulders can make you feel cold, but your legs are a lot more tolerant.

Wool is magical, it'll keep you warm and dry when you're cold and wet.

Protect the legs ... only if the rain is particularly heavy or if it will be raining a long time, and especially if it is cold. Last November we did a 100 km ride that consisted of wave after wave of rain and a high of about 15C. I wore rain pants.

Jacket ... we have Ground Effects jackets, MEC Woosh jackets, and I have a Fox jacket. All waterproof breathable with pitzips, although the Fox has smaller zips than I really like.

I have the She Shell, Rowan has the Storm Trooper.

Whoosh are, unfortunately, not made anymore. But MEC has other brands.

And I suspect my Fox jacket was the last of a line because I got it on sale. But it appears there is another one available now.
