Hey there, I've been long looking at a BMC GF01 disc and the Colnago C60 Italia disc (basically buying the complete bike with Dura-Ace Di2) but am unsure about a couple of things. First being the riding position and overall comfort, none of my LBS have these in stock so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience/opinions on these two models? Does anyone know if the C60 come with the same Shimano R785 hydrualic disc brakes the GF01 has?

I'm also interested to hear anyones opinion on either of these two machines, on the frame build quality/design, the BMC RWD01 vs Artemis Colnago Formula wheelsets and overall aesthetics, which do you think would be a better investment in the long run?

So you have $11,000 for a bike, but are going on suggestion?

BMC ride has been said to be very soft (almost too much so)

Colnogo is durable (read:very heavy)

for $11k you could buy just about any bike fully custom upgraded, why pick either of these?

I haven't ridden either bike, but the R785 brakes on my Orbea are very nice. Some people will just start bashing disc brakes because it is a hobby of theirs. Ignore them.

Well, not many bike shops would have these on the floor.. So after reading a few forums for a while I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to get some opinions.

Do you mean too soft from a construction stand point?

I picked these because they make very nice, well made bicycles and couldn't find any niche brands that do carbon fibre disc brake road bikes. Cycling Plus magazine gave the GF01 disc the bike of the year. The C60 marks an anniversary.. You could try and save me from burning dosh and suggesting "a better bike for the money"..

Those are still off-the-shelf bikes at custom pricing.

Find a local bike builder (or local enough) with a solid reputation and tell them you have $11,000 you want to part with. Pay 20% up front for design effort and the rest on delivery.

discounting the things you've read that are contrary to what you hope to be true may be an expensive education.

For half the price, check out Orbea. The Avant M20iD has ultegra Di2 (compact double with 11 speed 11-28t) and completely quiet disc brakes.

What makes you think i believe disc brakes are the best think since sliced bread? Would you like to give your opinion on these brakes? What could be a better model? This is part of the decision making process..

I did have an Obea Orca which served me well but happily parted ways with it. I'm looking for a bit of a change.

Putting brakes aside for a minute to focus on the other things. I'm thinking the BMC would give more of a relaxed position but the same could be said about the C60? It is a race bike but i believe the head tubes on these are long enough to make for a relaxed fit without it looking weird.

for what it's worth... I have a rim braked GF and really like it for my type of riding, mainly "training" and I ride it to the gym on Saturdays. it's compliant, but not soft IMO. my last road bike was a Cervelo R3 and I like the BMC alot better, rides better and I don't think it's missing anything handling wise.

IMO, it's pointless to ask for opinions WRT justifying, on the basis of technical superiority, the purchase of one 9-11,000 dollar bicycle over another. maybe buying both would be a good idea.

and the chances of finding any first hand experience, as requested in the OP, with these two bikes is like going into your local bar and asking a couple of the patrons what their first-hand thoughts are on a Chateau Lafite 1787 vs Cheval Blanc 1947.

Have a GF01 '14 disc and it's a "compliant" ride. Works well for me as roads around me have taken a turn for the worse since the treacherous winter. I've ridden Cervelo R5 (was a decent ride), Scott Foil (was ok) and Pinarello 65.1 (felt very stiff and hard riding). Have yet to try a Colnago.

Bike Radar gives Cannondale synapse ultegra disc a 5 stars rating (highest). The whole bike is cheaper than a Colnago frameset! Do you think you should at least take a test ride of the Cannondale?

Yeah I saw that, don't like the looks but it has been in the back of my mind. Anyone know when manufacturers release new models/colours?

Nice one. Is it regular endurance? From what I gather its a bit more racier which is what I'm after, a bit shorter in the stack and longer in the stem?
