Keeping your pace, attracts wheelsuckers. WHY?
I just read a post where people hate getting passed.
What I hate, are people jumping on your rear wheel that you don't know.
Most of the time the people that you pass, have been seen by you, a long time before you pass them. if you are riding a 20mph pace and they are doing maybe 15mph, eventually you are going to pass them!
It is nothing personal, you are just riding your pace. Most of the time after you pass someone, the first thing they want to do is jump on your wheel. I guess it is just human nature, But, I hope the wheelsuckers (not meant to be derogatory) realize ,is that you have been keeping a pace way faster than theirs in order to pass them in the first place.
If you are doing your pace and happen to pass a rider that you have seen and have been closing on for the last half mile, its not personal! I like most of us, are just riding a pace. If you know that you can keep , say 20mph, for say an hour. That is your pace. I don't increase my pace after passing, I stay the same. I always say hello as I pass, But the thing that you hate to see or hear is some unkown to you rider, breathing, and giving everything that they have to ride your wheel, and possibly become so obssessed with keeping up, that they may cause a accident!
Please, remember, that the more you ride, the better you will get. So someday, you too will be doing the passing! And not getting passed!
And yes, some riders might be finishing up an Epic. So try not to jump on their wheel, we are just trying to get home!

I feel like there should be a couch, questions about your mother, and billable hours involved here.

This is why I love climbing. No bull$hit. If you want to try and hang, go for it. If you can't, then deal with it. Truth.

Ride faster and make them pop.
If you aren't inclined to do that, slow down/sit up, look back and ask them WTF they are doing, and if they don't get the hint tell them to GTFO. No sane person is going to suck your wheel after that.

Is OP just venting (do we look like therapists); does he hope to start a revolution curbing wheel sucking; does he hope for a barrage of responses in resounding support for the dislike of wheel sucking; like why?
Besides the mention that stranger wheel sucking can be dangerous and lead to an accident especially if the sucker is inexperienced at pacelining - something universally known - like, um, I dunno, what was the point here. For example, something like what's the safest way to approach wheel sucking/ how do you guys deal with wheel suckers/ how to avoid or ward off a wheel sucker would have been more cohesive and coherent. Maybe.

Go by hard and wide. If that doesn't work, give them the elbow flick. If that doesn't work, sit up.

Earth calling, pilot to co-pilot
Looking at the life on this planet, sir, no sign of it
All I can see is a bunch of smoke flyin'
And I'm so high that I might die if I go by it
Let me out of this place
I'm outta place
I'm in outer space
I've just vanished without a trace
I'm going to a pretty place now where the flowers grow
I'll be back in an hour or so...
Lol.... one can only hope right, then have it come crashing down in a ball of flames time and time again as the reality of BF sets in.

If it is in town... that might be odd.
If it was a long ride, and I met someone who would do a mutually compatible pace... I think I'd enjoy the company.

"Suprisingly drafting not only helps the bicyclist following the leader, but the lead cyclist gains an advantage as well. Paul explained, 'The interesting thing is by filling in her eddy you improve the front person's performance as well. So two people who are drafting can put out less energy than two individuals (who are not drafting) would covering the same distance in the same time.'"

Must be that time of year.. we've waded through the waving threads, the average speed threads, now it's time for the anti-wheel sucker threads. (golf clap)

I choose to ride alone. When I pass a slower rider, I am not inviting him for company, nor is he welcome. However, I was never gifted with a sprint. Does this mean I am sentenced to provide a draft for everyone I pass?

No idea what you are talking about, I don't venture out to Road Cycling sub forum often these days.

If you fear that a 15 mph rider looks like they're going to snag your wheel... pass them unannounced at 25 MPH... they'll have a heck of a time catching you.

I don't have a problem with another rider hooking on after I make a pass. If I can make their effort a little easier, it lifts me up and adds some instant energy.
