Holy crap ,I've had them hit my chest n leg before but yesterday I was mile 19 of 35 and had traffic passing when this happened ,holy beJesus man I thought that the throbbing would never quit n it was right wear my helmet padding was over my ear area

Yes. Riding fixed gear while crossing traffic last Spring. This was a yellow jacket. It wasn't safe to bring both hands to my head to sort things out. By the time that I stopped and ripped the helmet off, he'd gotten me a few (3? times) on the crown of my head. But I was out for a fun ride, so I kept riding hard, and the stings cleared themselves naturally. Meaning that by the time I got home an hour or two later, things felt pretty normal.

Been stung in the jersey, on the hand and through the sock before. The front of the shin is a sensitive place...

I got my first one last summer, cooking along on a flat when she went in the right side front vent. It was a yellow jacket but luckily she only got one sting in as she disintegrated into yellow mush. Got me right at the hairline, itched like crazy for about a week.

I have thick hair, so the ones that have gone into my helmet don't reach the scalp. Jerseys are another story, though. A couple weeks ago, I was going down a hill with no shoulder and a car right behind me. Some stinging insect (probably a yellow jacket) got trapped in my jersey and stung me 8 times on the back. I couldn't stop to get it out, and I needed both hands on the handlebars because of the road conditions, so I just had to suck it up. I get stung several times a year. I have reached the point where I can remove a stinger or unzip a jersey and get one of the damn things out without stopping my bike under most circumstances.

Not into my helmet, but last season I had a hornet fly into my mouth and sting my tongue before I could spit it out! Yeoooowwww! My tongue was swollen for 2-3 days!

I have been stung more times than I can count. I got stung 4-5 times before I could squash the rascal that got into my jersey on a Brevet last year. Never got one in my mouth. Lidmar helmets have a mesh that helps keep bugs out. During the hatch....like last night.....I am plastered in bugs

I had a wasp nail my arm 3 weeks ago. That thing was jacked up on something. I don't bruise easily at all and that thing left a bruise on me. I was mountain biking some years ago when a yellow fly flew into my mouth and stuck to the back of my throat. That was unpleasant. I have had bees and yellow jackets get inside my motorcycle helmet before, but I got them out without getting stung. I have conditioned myself not to panic or get spastic.

Not to be alarmist, but I had an uncle die from swallowing a bee that stung him in the throat. It had gotten into his soda can unbeknownst to him. His throat swelled closed and he was unable to breathe and suffocated. The people with him didn't know what was going on. I don't believe he was allergic.

I had one fly into my mostly open jersey last summer. I felt something hit my chest, but couldn't find it. Then I felt something weird near my HR strap on the side. Finally, I felt something sting me on my back.

I hollered, immediately sat up and completely unzipped my jersey to shake the bee out.

I got stung right between my eyes late last summer, and five minutes later I went skidding pavement as I hit a little bit of gravel. The road rash quickly made me forget about the sting until the next day when my swollen forehead made me look like a neanderthal. The worst part was telling people that the crash had nothing to do with the bee sting, just my poor bike handling skills.

No, but I have been stung in the chest. I was also stung on my upper thigh when a I collided with a bee during a high-speed descent into Watkins Glenn. And inch or two to the right and it would have hit my sweaty banana.

And dig this...I was touring in Montana last year. One morning it was chilly when I started out. By the time I hit the second climb of the day, it was getting warm. I sat down by the side of the road to strip layers, including my base layer, which required me to pull down my bib straps. When I stood up, pulled up the bib straps and put the jersey back on, I started feeling stings on my back and neck. Realized I had about two dozen unhappy ants crawling on me. Always watch closely where you sit.

I never experienced bees in the bonnet and thought that it was odd that others though it was sometimes problematic... and then I experienced it twice within a one week period last year. I got the first one out without being stung, the second one was a different story - it struck just below my ear and became momentarily (certainly <1 sec) tangled in my helmet strap, but that was time enough for it to tag me. My neck/jawline was nice and swollen by the time I got home.

Some wasps are absolutely evil. I don't bruise easily, either, but one got my thigh just below the shorts last year. My leg immediately started swelling and my foot went numb. The next day, my leg was bruised and blistered. The blisters and swelling stuck around and hurt for about a week. I suspect a demon escaped from hell and manifested itself as a wasp.

edit: I used to just duck my head, and listen to them bounce off the top of my helmet - not any longer! Now, I dodge them.

that sucks man, but it gave me an idea. Someone should design a helmet that incorporates a bug zapper inside the vents. In addition to zapping bugs, you'd be highly visible from the blue glow.

Last summer, I had a bee fly into my jersey, which I had unzipped a little because it was very hot out. I felt it hit my chest as it went in, then felt a slight pain on my chest when it stung me right next to my nipple.

2 in a row in less than 30 seconds...was hauling ass, little black and yellow torpedoes spiraling at my head. No biggie, forehead flesh is thin, isn't muscle. Just burns.

This is exactly what happened to me! I had never been stung in years of riding, but last summer it finally happened, and in just the same way.

JRA and I felt something buzz in and hit the side of my face, and then stay there. Got my hand up to brush it off but it (whatever it was) was stuck in my helmet strap. It got me good just in front of my ear before I could swipe it off. The side of my face and jaw swelled up, but it went away in an hour or so.

I suppose I found out I'm not allergic to bee stings. But then again, I never saw what type of bee(?) it was.

I always wear a cycling cap under my helmet partly because I worry about bees flying in. I haven't taken a sting under the helmet so far.

Commuting to work on the MUP last summer, fixed gear, riding at a fairly fast pace, shades on, passing pedestrians.....boom, bee flew right into one of the vents on the helmet and immediately stung me. I never felt the bee hit my head, just the sting. Stopped and ripped my helmet off but it was too late. The only problem? I shave my head so it had already welted up and by the time I got to work, they had me ice it and put some Hydrocortisone cream on it. That hurt like crazy and was just throbbing and pulsing. It really hurt, way more than I would think that it would.

If I get a bee or wasp in my helmet, I just ignore it. It'll eventually fly out, and it seems to never sting. Mess with it...and it'll likely sting.

A few weeks ago, I had a small bee fly into my mouth as I was riding [Gotta remember to breathe in through my nose, only!] and it almost went down my throat! I could feel it buzzing...but was able to spit it out without it stinging.

In my case clearly the disc brakes were at fault, see I go faster because I can stop faster, therefore I hit the bees harder with ny noggin' and they got mad. lmao

Fellow mouth breather here: had the exact same thing, only it was my lower lip he stung before I could spit him out. Swelled up terrible and I sounded funny for a few days.
