How stiff is a soma smoothie?
I'm considering getting one, I love the look and I've heard you can build one at or under 20lb. My road bike right now is an older carbon (2007 GTR) frame that I got used. It's not incredibly stiff like some of the new carbon bikes, and it too weighs nearly 20lb built, but it does jump spiritedly under power in sprints and climbs. I intend to spec similar components and use the same wheels on the smoothie, can I expect any semblance of the lively power transfer I'm used to? I've had steel that felt fast, and steel that felt dead, how will this feel?

So you're asking whether someone else's subjective feeling about a bike will match up with your subjective feelings might be if you were to buy the bike?
I have a soma double cross that I've been using primarily as a road and randonneuring bike. It's a very responsive bike, it looks sharp IMO, and Soma's prices are pretty reasonable.

Mostly I'm wondering if it will feel soft, so sure, I want others' experience. I can get one through work, but we don't have anything on the floor, so I won't be able to try it first. What does your doublecross weigh?

My doublecross weighs right around 25 pounds but I didn't try to save weight in the build.
