1st Century Completed
This past Sat I finally did a centuy, 105 miles to be exact. It took me 6hr and 46 mins of saddle time, and about 8 hrs of real time when I add in all the pit stops and lunch with the family. I started out near my house in The Pasadena area and ended in Carlsbad where i meet the family again and started my vacation. The best part was the rain in carlsbad for the last 5 miles. Other than my thighs feeling like they were on fire at mile 70 and knee pain at mile 85 it was a good ride.

Congrats! I remember on my first century at about mile 80 I was never, ever, going to do another damn century as long as I lived. That was about 20 century rides ago.

You should sign up for Cruisin the Conejo on May 9. Cool breeze in August is also awesome. Conejo is a little lumpier than Pasadena to Carlsbad though.

Wow congrats I was thinking about doing something like that also, but have been off the bike recently due to getting the flu and then a reoccurring back injury. I like the idea of doing a 1 way ride and just getting picked up and a nice long lunch break probably helped out as well.

Amen! Except I usually end up questioning my sanity every century at about 80 miles... it takes 3 weeks or so to forget how much I hate mile 80 and then I'm good again.
Great job! s a terrific route too, some forum friends and I did an abbreviated version of the same thing from Anaheim to the pizza port in Carlsbad a few weeks ago.

I too just did my first half last weekend. This weekend I am doing 45 & at the end of the month I am planning a metric century. I still can't imagine doing a full yet I hope to get there next year.
