Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Until I tried to use it. It powered up fine, I went to clear old activities, and I bricked the thing. Totally unresponsive, hung up with the backlight on and ALL ACTIVITIES highlighted. So it was a paperweight.

In Geneva, I had the bright idea to stop at a bike shop and see if they know how to unbrick it. So three miles pedaling out of the way to discuss over that Genedva Cycle Works is CLOSED on Wednesdays.

Now that I am in Geneseo for the night, I futzed with holding all four buttons in and got it to finally turn off. We'll see how this goes.

As I just read four pages of posts, it made me wonder whatever happened to @ls01 and his flashback/catch up posting?

If he does a full catch up, it'll have to be at least 10 pages of ls01 posts!

Wait? I don't understand. You rode your bike anyway even though the Garmin was not working? Crazy.

I'm with you, @Heathpack! Craziness indeed. I don't walk across the street unless my Garmin records the activity.

Yeah, so I think I rode my first century of the season. I have no idea of mileage, but as a guess 108ish. I'm sure there was some climbing involved. I'm sure there was an averaged speed involved. I know I was two hours quicker than last year, but much of that is due to less wind (4-7 mph today, 10-15 mph last year) and to the fact that I never did find my camera. No gratuitous pics to follow, but there is a Walmart across the street, so I may fuel the economy with a new one. You're welcome.

I got a flat tire 8 miles from my house, so I'll patch that tonight. #prolly . The Road Morph pump is crazy awesome.

Century #2 of the season is tomorrow, followed by century #3 on Friday. I way over packed the SS, and the damned thing probably weighs 35 lbs. Hills are definitely being uppity.

I mowed my 1/2 acre yard with a push mower and my Garmin just to see the plot and stats.

@RollCNY Congrats on the century. Always feels good to get that first one out of the way.

As for the flat, I can commiserate. My wife had a flat 1.8 miles from the end of our metric century today.

Took me a while to figure out what that was. Still not sure. A hose with a handled nozzle? At first I thought it was an electrical wire.

1. Buy the camera, 'cause we want pics
2. What bike is this? I'm confused as to where you are with bikes these days. If its the Lotus, you owe us pics of that too.

It's an outside wash bay at a car wash. I assume it's for semi tractors and other vehicles too big for the regular bays.

It was going to be the Lotus, but my frame bag occludes the down tube shifters. It is the Felt single speed. Same ol', same ol'
