Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Because of my propensity for type 2 diabetes, I avoid potatoes and a lot of other starches. My wife has done a good job of helping me find other foods like the mashed cauliflower as a substitute for the junk that I used to eat.

Hey @Heathpack, did you get a pic of Evie? Her story is very interesting. She went from novice racer to Pro in like 1 year. There was a good write up about her in (ugh) Bicycling a couple years ago.

It is very good, but because of the lack of starch it can get really soupy, not like potatoes. You have to make sure the cooked cauliflower is completely dry before you mash it. Any extra liquid on the outside combines with what is inside to loosen it up too much. In a way that is good, because there is no temptation to put any cream or a lot of butter in it.

I was hoping you might do that.

Years ago I rode up on a turkey vulture eating some road kill. I've seen them circling over that spot. It's a long ride from my home so I don't go there much. But, once I was on the main road, very rural, mostly farm fields I was riding and a huge one swooped down over me from the rear only about 10 feet over my head. He was being chased by two or three crows. They chased him out of sight. Man those things are big!

Mrs. rjones28 picked me up at the shop and we went to the local pizza joint.

Hops and barley count as vegetables, right?

I used to do a good bit of model sailplane flying.

Those things are awesome for finding lift.

Shocking.

I'm lost as to what country this parade was in, though. Maybe if someone displayed a flag or two during the festivities the people would know where they were.

Hey, hey, hey. Any obvious attempts to circumvent the banned word filters will result in dropping your arse on the next ride.
