Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I spent all morning tromping around cemeteries for my wife. Someone with access to ancestors.com provided her with a link to her great, great, great grandparents location and it turns out that hey are buried in a cemetery where we often regroup on our rides. Finding their tombstones was easy since it's a small cemetery. Can't believe that we've ridden by there a zillion times and didn't know it.

So, one link turned in to another and I located her great, great grandparents in another cemetery about 7 miles from us. Amazing how one little clue is all it takes.

Work is done and I'm waiting for my new rear derailleur to show up today...the suspense is killing me. The idea is to ride to Brooklyn on my lame Warbird, slap on the new hanger, derailleur, put the Nokon back on, run the cable and Voila!!!! Be ready to pound the snot out of it tomorrow...I have a sinking feeling that I'll be delayed until tomorrow though...Damn USPS...and I need to return a little black dress!

Seems like those rattletraps are on the way out here. Those little Chinese engines have a pretty short lifespan even with proper maintenance, REALLY short with no maintenance.

If electrics ever get cheap enough, I'm sure the sidewalks will be full of them.

I've done a good amount of family genealogy and it's quite a thrill to find key records that fill in blanks in the family tree.

It was equally thrilling to discover the tombstone of my 3rd great grandfather, and quite a surprise since I was looking for one of my great uncles, one of his kids, at the time.

49cc are not subject to any emission laws at all. In about a day, those pigs undo what a PZEV car can do in a month.

Welp, I placed my CC/Strava order. One pair Oury grips in black, so not very exciting. Was hoping to get a Shimano shifter cable but it was on backorder...

Do they have a parade? I may have to rain on it a little.

You never have to wait long for a new circus to pop up around here. This is the 41 after all.

He seemed to be disappointed that the missed the last circus, I thought I would give him a heads up. I'm not telling him where it is though.

.
Step one:look for threads that are near the top in road.
Step two: scan for words and catch phrases like "carbon" "difference between" "how do i choose ?", etc. Spelling and grammar mistakes in the title are a plus.
Step three: pull up the last and most recent page. Gauge the level of vitriol.
Step four: make yourself comfortable and pour a cup of your favorite beverage.

Sometimes it feels like "Addiction" is the "Beavis and Butthead" of the 41.

I want to get out for a short ride on the Allez before work tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain all day. Hmm.
