Did 76 miles today....rode to the shop, new derailleur and hangar installed, did 30 miles of laps in Prospect Park, fine tuned everything, rode home with one spin around Central Park. Pleasant day out...Damn Garmin glitched and had no map or elevation data. My Strava followers will be disappointed for not being able to analyze all my Hammer Drops.
I did not have any looks to give either, I affected an air of serious disdain during my laps; not even pinky waves.

On our way back, we rode up on a fellow who, at one point in time, had been riding in the opposite direction of our current path. He was standing near the side of the MUP with his bike leaning up against him, looking down at it with the deer in the headlights look. As we rolled up on him I told the two clowns to stop. I asked him if he was okay. He said he got a flat and I asked him if he needed anything or needed help. He repeated....I have a flat, I think I ran over some glass back there. I asked him if he needed a tube and he said it would be nice if I had one. As I pulled a tube out he took the rear off the bike and stood there with it giving me the deer in the headlights look. I asked him if he had tire levers or needed some. Yep....no tire levers. At that time he claims he has never had a flat. So, I give him mine. He gets the tire off and the tube out. Yep...deer in the headlights look again. I tell him to run his fingers around the inside of the tire to check for shrapnel. I put a couple pumps on the tube, determine where the hole is and narrow his search. Tire seems clean so we put everything back together. Yep....deer in the headlights time again. Me....ummm...you need a pump? Get the tire pumped up he puts the wheel back on the bike while I'm putting everything back in the saddlebag. I'm getting ready to get moving and the dude offers me a Jackson. I said no, he said no really, take it. I said no, you need to go to the take that Jackson to the bike store and get some tubes, tire levers and a pump.

Duathlon was so much fun!
My partner and I took first place over all, 2.4 mile run with a 10.3 mile bike, then the run again. We won by less than a minute, I held 22.8 mph for the course with over 400 feet of climbing. There was another cyclist that was close behind me, he was an older man (70 I heard) with a very nice bike, TT bike with zipps, it looked very nice. On the flats he would get closer, and closer. He was maybe 15 seconds behind me, I almost blew up trying to keep him out of my draft. On the hill section I pulled to about 90 seconds ahead, but he made up for it on the downhill and flats, I was only 30-45 seconds ahead of him when I tagged my partner.
I was really amazed at his performance, I had couple of jaw dropping moments when he was still behind me on some sections. I would be lucky to still be on a bike racing others at that age, I really respected his performance.
Got our registration fee back for winning, really fun experience!

Done with my century. 100 miles/4500ish feet climbing. Lol, felt flat!
I forgot to turn the backlight off on my Garmin, so it died with maybe 7 miles to go. I have the SRM data but can't access it on the road (or at least I don't know how to). But I'm told by our SAG driver that we were something like 6:50 or 6:55 elapsed. Lots of stopped time waiting for people, I'm going to guess at least 50 min.
The team thing only worked semi-well. I did get in with a race team for maybe 20 miles though, we made great time. The Nightcrawler women are done. We are waiting on the boys.
I'm going to speculate that we had a moving pace of 16.5 mph. We'll see what it really looks like when I get to see the data.
Oh yeah, and Magic Bike odometer in now at 9025ish miles. Totally glad I bought that bike.

On the way out to our turnaround spot. A guy riding a mountain bike was going in the opposite direction.
I did not wave at him.

Also: I got that Feed Zone Portables cookbook. Based on ideas from that I made these Coconut-Sea Salt Rice Balls with Dark Chocolate Centers. Mmm that was some of the best on-the-bike eats I've ever had.
Im going to have to try to remember out what I did & write it down.

If you can get French Apricots do so...deelish. Sweet, tangy, and gooey but, not over the top. Bite sized.

So I am still riding the Roubaix with the "boat anchor" stock wheels. I was thinking of breaking out the Williams 38 wheels for today's ride, but I am SO GLAD I did not. We had a few sections of milled pavement that was very rough, plus a large assortment of uneven pavement and potholes. Even the patched potholes are kinda rough. I may need to stick with these heavier wheels with 25mm width tires for the foreseeable future...any advice/suggestions?

Strava-Stalk away! You should come and ride out here in glorious Chester County, PA. Very scenic countryside.
