Speedplay Zero or Pave or Time Xpresso?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've been on the Time Xpressos for 3 years now (over 20k miles) and I like them a lot. No comparisons to the pedals you mentioned however. Speedplays certainly seem to be the most popular pedal around here.

I'd go with the Times. I like the way they design the cleat/pedal interface and resulting way float occurs. I don't like the design of speedplay pedals, especially the cleat.

ICLIC system for me. (Time xpresso/Mavic zxellium).

I switched from Look KEO. First ICLIC were the Zxellium - got because I wanted something with more reliable clip-in, and which didn't need cleat covers. Definitely didn't want the lollipops and wasn't looking for float. The Zxellium were simple, near effortless to clip into, and a good value from a weight weenie standpoint. Got the Xpresso instead for the new bike because they came in white, but they're the same system. No complaints, and they've become second nature, so I can't imagine riding with any other kind.

Pedals are a personal thing.

I had Times for a bit and Looks before that...I've been on Speedplay Xs for 2 years now and my knees have never been happier. Get cleat covers for example these at a minimum:

Amazon.com : Keep on Kovers Z cleat cover for Speedplay zero or Light Action Cleats (Cleats in the photo is sold seperately) : Bike Cleat Covers : Sports & Outdoors

Makes your cleats last a ton longer and you don't have to worry (or think of or forget) about putting them on (or losing them).

Then the Pave probably aren't worth the extra $$. I'd make my choice based on how much float I wanted. Personally, I like a lot if float so I ride Zeros.
