Gatorade energy chews?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Feels like I need some supplement at the 20 mile mark if going over 40. Which would be best 30g CLIFF bars or a trail mix??

Dates rolled in soft bread with a dribble of brandy. About the 80 mile mark of a century.

No kidding. I don't think I would be physically able to wolf down a Cliff bar or something every 45 minutes. Plus it would slow me down too often. That's why I like Gu, I can shoot it down without slowing up too much. Sometimes I'll put a fistfull of peanut M&M's in the back pocket if I don't eat anything pre-ride. Just pop one in every so often and they don't melt.

I'm in the minority here, but I like the Gatorade chews. 100 calories and it doesn't make you feel full. In fact that's the reason I DON'T like cliff bars and other types of energy bars, they feel like I've consumed a handful of rocks.

Not me, but I only eat one when I'm starving. If I ate one every 15 miles it would feel like a rock.

Are you serious? That's a lot of calories.

Jeez some of you eat a lot. If you are fit and ride below lactic threshold, you can do 50 miles without food.

Wife is great for buying food, then letting it go to waste. I HATE working to earn money, buy food, then pitch it. Well in the freezer is a bog box of "Vita Tops" she ordered and did not eat.

Hmmm interesting nutritional profile.
100 calories
2g fat
115mg sodium
40mg potassium
25g carb, 9g fiber, 8g sugars
6g protien
Buncha vitamins and stuff
They fit in a jersey pocket nice, ride for 3 hours and do not turn to dust.
Banana Nut VitaTops (12 Muffin Tops)

Looks like I have some free ride food, ate 1/2 of one every 30 minutes on a self supported solo metric today, seemed more than ok.
