    Fork impact question

    Hello,

Today, due to an unlucky series of events I ended up going over the bars. I had been going up a new ascent and the road had progressively turned worse, eventually into a dirt trail toward the top. I was leaning forward and out of the saddle going about 8-12 mph when my front wheel hit a rock and I went over the bars. I hit my head (was wearing a helmet), but that was about it.

My question is with the fork (on an emonda sl6). It was a slow impact and I'm a light guy (150 lbs) however it still was enough to send me over the bars. I was wondering if anyone has knowledge about broken forks. I pulled the fork out of the bike, tapped on it, it hums like a tuning fork with no buzzes, and the crowns and steer tube joint show no signs of damage.

It would appear to have been an elastic collision, and likely be safe. What are your opinions?

I'm sure it'll likely be safe, but maybe not.

Good to hear you were not injured. I think your fork is probably ok but it might not hurt to get a shop to take a look at it.

Do you worry about every pothole's effect on the fork? What's the difference except you are not usually licking the front tire. And how many times have I told you not to do that?
