Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Dinged up carbon...Sharpies?

So, I've been bombing through gravel & hardpack on my DOPE November RAILs 52mm's; anyhow, I like to clean up the dings from the rocks with a permanent black marker...

Do you folks use branded Sharpies for their superior coverage and resilience to wear, or do you prefer cheap no-name Chinese knock offs?

I use a Sharpie on mine. The name on the downtube (black letters on yellow paint) had some scrapes over the years. A finepoint Sharpie works great. I want some kind of clearcoat, but not sure what will work with Sharpie. I will have to test them first to make sure they don't dissolve the Sharpie and make it run.

Cool...I was thinking of spraying my rims with a slightly tacky clearcoat and dusting it with silver sparkles...

Sharpies rock.
