Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wife hit by car this weekend. In need of 2010 BH Cristal Frame/Fork.

My wife was hit by a car this weekend. Luckily, she will be ok. Her bike, however, is trashed. And my wife is devastated.

This bike meant the world to her, and I am trying my best to find a replacement frame/fork.

If anyone knows of a 2010 BH Cristal frame/fork in pink (Size Medium - 55) that may be available, PLEASE let me know.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad she's okay.

Hate to say it, but that's going to be difficult to replace. Maybe she can love another bike.

Thanks. The one thing I can do right now to make her happy is get her back on a bad-ass bike.

Thanks for the links, guys. I'm also giving her every other option I can find, in case I can't find the BH. She just loved that bike so much.

Please tell us she didn't name it Brad.

BTW, I am also very pleased she is not seriously injured. Will you be getting some compensation toward the replacement, or was she at fault?

She would laugh if someone even mentioned naming a bike. lol

She was not at fault, and we should be getting compensated.

Thanks to everyone for the positive thoughts and concern.

Thought about contacting BH and telling them her story? It's a long shot, but maybe they have another frame?

Thanks. We are waiting for a response from BH. They are searching for us. I'm hitting this from every angle I can.

I would still jump on the other bike available at the moment even though it's not pink. Tell her I am glad she was not seriously hurt.

damn... good to hear she's okay...

grinds my gears when people in cars ****ing actually hit people...

I know people get attached to their bikes... but maybe you just try and sell her on the wonder of falling in love again with a new frame set..

surely there's gotta be something she has her eyes on... you can salvage the groupo and the wheels/tires yes? That's a good starting point if you can... just throw it all on a new frame...

I wouldn't let that one get away unless it makes her barf. You may not find anything close to that again.

Well, I've been away for a while, but here's an update:

Wife is doing ok, but continues to have lots of back and shoulder pain. Getting hit by a car sucks bad!

The lesson we both learned is to always make eye contact with drivers wherever possible. Never assume they are going to do the right thing. Better to slow down and be safe than to be sorry. This kind of thing can change your life forever!

On the hunt for a new frame:

BH found us a new frame in the warehouse, so we bought it. Built up the bike, and then took it to get my wife a fitting. And guess what? The frame was just a tad too large.

So now I have a great BH Cristal for sale. Anyone interested, check out the for sale forum.

BTW, my wife settled on a new Colnago.

Be safe out there, everyone! And thanks for all the well-wishes and encouragement!
