Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Walked into the LBS with flat rim. Walked out 20 minutes later with round rim. Took a little work, but he did a great job. $20. I'll take it. It was my first time in that particular shop. I'll be back.

That's great news. Can you share with us how he did it?

I'll try my best. Please, pardon any ignorance for proper names.

He worked back and forth between a truing stand, some sort of roller "rim massaging" contraption and the rim straightener pictured above. He was very methodical. It was like watching a master blacksmith work his magic.

I perceived that the purpose of the massager was to work or heat up the metal to allow him to work the rim into place without doing further damage.

I am quite pleased with the result.
