Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

raised bumps on carbon clinchers?

My November Rails have developed raised bumps on the braking surface. And yes, I am using the correct pads with the rims. Using the ones November provided with the rims. Are these done for or is this nothing to worry about and/or can be fixed?

Have you inspected your brake pads for any glass or stones that could have caused it ?

Yeah, they seem fine to me. Nothing stuck. Not ruling out that could have happened mid ride, but could have came out of the pad mid ride as well....? I dunno. I really hope these aren't trashed. I've had them for less than a year. :-/ Most of my riding is indoors too on a trainer :-(. (yes, I use a different wheel and open the brakes up all the way when using the trainer!)

Wow, how many kilometers do you do on the trainer, you've ridden 7000km on the road this year!

Something stuck in the pads would likely make even grooves around the rim, not the odd marks I see.
Contact the company.

I have contacted November. Saturday was my last ride with the wheels. Of something to note, before that ride the level of true was 'meh, could use a truing', post ride was 'oh my, definitely needs truing'. So just got the wheels back yesterday from the shop.

A lot of trainer time. I don't trust drivers much anymore and have a family to support. Endurance zone 2 rides are outside, group rides outside, and races. Otherwise, most of everything else is indoor on the trainer.

if my rims looked like that, i'm talking about the series of symmetrical gashes close to the tire line here, i would assume i had sliced into a curb or two.

Are they are on side of the rim or both?

I don't recall for sure. Will check when I get home. I've already contacted November and they are wanting me to send it to them. And no, I did not hit a curb. Not too many curbs where I ride anyways. These bumps are also not just in this spot, there are a few more in other spots on the same side. Will check the other side tonight.

Ok, so Kudos to November. They are sending me a new rear wheel. Thought I'd provide an update. Excellent customer service! They are keeping mine for 'research'.

Great. That shows top notch customer service. Another reason to buy from a source with good reputation.

It looks like a rock got stuck between your brake and the rim.
