Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got it. Thanks for clueing me in. I used to be huge into baseball as a kid, but not really following it anymore.

I do have a single signed Thurman Munson baseball that I got when I was 11 years old, apparently quite valuable now. It's apparently worth as much as two "Halo" bikes.

He does... but is a firm believer in the notion that all you need to do to be a better runner is to run more.

AG is off in Amsterdam with her parents starting tomorrow morning - I'll have lots of of time to run. Should be over 40 miles this week.

And, I was all set to actually go into the office today, for the first time in three weeks, when my officemate IMed me to say he was staying home today. No reason to go in at all, then. I'm wondering now how many more times I'll actually show up there.

Bottom bracket creak won't go away...I've done several things in attempts to fix it, it goes away for a week then comes back with a vengeance. I guess it's time for a new bike.

One of my Nightcrawler friends went to Boulder, CO and all I got was this lousy TShirt

Seriously though, I love it.

The Boy Wonder set a track record for 500m, which apparently isn't even his distance. They did way more stuff, just two days at the velodrome. Then they got home and the 14 year old Boy Wonder has a "letter of interest" from a college in Durango. It's because of his mountain biking, which he likes but only really started doing this year because he started high school & there is a HS mt biking team. His 9 year old sister asked where Durango was and when he told her, she burst into tears, she had no idea that college might mean going far away. But that school has no velodrome, so questionable whether he would go there anyway.

Well at least she's not going to have to pay for college.

That may be. But I have a chronic nagging posterior tibialis tendonitis (just to the inside of my achilles, due to over-pronation) and am working with a physical therapist to get me back to running. So far, so good. He wants me to do these drills once/week which is not unreasonable. He also has me doing lots of other exercises along with 2-3 short (20 minute) runs/week.

Cool t-shirt, @Heathpack.

I assume it's Fort Lewis College. Yep. Big on all types of cycling there, but there is no Velodrome within miles, that's for sure. He could do worse, as far as colleges go. It doesn't have the "name", but I am told the eduction is quality there.

Yes, I think so. I have a feeling he'll have plenty of options though.

Have a nice vacation, @LAJ!

FYI: it is customary for my friends to buy me a TShirt while on vacation.

(Just kidding.)

Maybe. That's why SSRI's are better. Generally speaking.

Heck of a view from that college. It's located on top of a big hill overlooking Durango.
