Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New BD Ultegra hydraulic disc bike

Looks interesting for $1299. 6800 group (minus cranks), hydraulic discs, fits up to 700x45 tires. Might make an interesting n+1

Nice offering. I'll give BD credit for reading where the market is heading. Not that it's rocket science or anything...but still.

Me too. I was wondering when they would have a disc road bike. Hydraulic disk road with name brand components is much more than I expected. Although they also have a lower end one with mechanical BB7 for $999 too. Now if they would just come out with a single speed cross bike with discs for $500 or less I might be tempted

Bringing the thread up because I just purchased the Motobecane Turino Team Hydraulic yesterday. Long story short. My Kinesis Decade Tripster (aka gravel bike) was stolen this past Sunday and I was in the market for a replacement.

I'm excited to try out these new brakes! I live atop a significant hill and will be dropping down on my favorite road for bedding brakes: bikes, cars, and motorcycles. Haha

You bet. So far, order placed last night and received a shipping number this morning. That's what they said they'd do, so far so good.

Not trying to be a hater but that bike is pretty ugly and I can't even really say why. There are some pretty obvious corners that were cut to keep the price down though (crankset, no internal cable routing, etc)

I disagree. I'LL tell you why. It has the latest features that buyers are looking for in a well-equipped high-end alternative road bike (or whatever we'll end up calling this style). And at a price no one can touch. Try to self build one of these for $1,700.

Now if you're saying that to look at it causes you revulsion then that's your opinion. Nothing wrong with hating with an opinion about looks. But you're telling me that you'd trade $1,000 or $2,000 for a Ultegra crankset and internal routing. I don't see the logic in that. THAT is the definition of hating.

That is actually the best looking carbon frame I've ever seen from a BD brand bike (not saying much). I still like the orange aluminium look better

They also have a new cheaper Reynolds 520 steel bike for $549. Not quite as exciting but a nice addition for someone looking for entry level steel

The Century Plus does have internal routing of the rear brake line.

It looks as though the Turino Team was photographed without the brake pads and their cooling fins installed. I like cooling fins!

Enough of this..

Okay, before someone else says it, "I sure hope they include the brake pads with the shipped bike."

I like the way the orange frame shows through the cranks. Knocking myself unconscious now.

Does the orange frame have a little more relaxed geometry than the black frame?

Hard to tell since the Century Pro's geo link is broken. But the orange Turino looks like it has a taller and slacker head tube to the naked eye

From the looks of it, the orange Team is a semi-sloping compact frame. I generally like this style because it combines more stand-over clearance than the traditional horizontal top tube style. The carbon Century Box isn't a compact from but appears to favoring the "stressed-bow" look where tubes curve and change shape. The overall appearance is aggressive, IMHO.

Totally didn't see that carbon version, that is very tempting. The clearance is a huge plus.
