Buy a non expensive 10$ computer off ebay, or go with the garmin 1000 bundle.

I have an 800 and just ordered the 520. DC Rainmaker has a decent initial review that compares the 520 to the 510. It uses the latest Bluetooth, supports trainer control and can store some map information. It has all I need. I would wait the few weeks for the 520 rather than getting the 510.

I just bought the 510 bundle and saved a heap. I'm not sold on the 520, the battery life is arguably less, i don't need any of the new features, no touchscreen (not that they are really good) and the 520's square design with white border looks like a step back.

The 520 looks tempting.. I just got an 810 about 5-6 weeks ago but I'm thinking about going w/ the 520.

Never on God's green earth should you but a just released Garmin Edge. Wait av year for public beta testing to fix some showstopper bugs.

People recommending the 520 now are either absolutely nuts or trolling

Having owned the 200 and the 510, depending on what features you're looking for, I would almost recommend the 500 for the majority of people. The only thing I use on the 510 that the 500 doesn't have would be the touchscreen. With the latest update (3.5 on the garmin, latest iphone and latest garmin connect app version) syncing with BT is REALLY hit or miss. It's like they want at least one feature to totally suck.

520 definitely. Unless you require street rerouting while underway, in which case you need a 705 or higher model.

A new Garmin anything, the Edges actually work pretty well compared to their hiking units. The Fenix 3 they released in February still doesn't support Cycling Dynamics from their own power meter!

Nah, they're just excited. And assume everything will work as advertised. Because that's supposed to be how it works.
    Don't believe everything you think.
