Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Just curious. I notice that he was a big rider at 6'2" plus.
I'm the same height but am 1000x slower!

Don't remember what frames he rode, but try to imagine climbing with 25-30 lbs less weight - that's still big for a climber, but still a huge advantage over 200+...

Are you sure he is that tall? I stood near him at the 1996 Olympics and he didn't look any 6'2"... more like 6'0" max. Maybe he wasn't standing up straight.

Does anyone remember the frame he used at the 89 tour when he won at Cauterets?

He was so tall, the top tube arced up towards the seatpost.....Groovy.
