I'm a software engineer who works on tax, accounting, and government software. I have too many hobbies, so cycling doesn't get my entire hobby budget.

Project engineer for a small aerospace manufacturer. I work on the government contracts side, spare parts for the air force and navy aircraft. I've seen drawings for parts for aircraft ranging from old B-52's, A-10's, to B-1B's.

It's interesting how hobbies can introduce you to people in all kinds of professions and lines of work. Among the folks I used to ride motorcycles with, there were folks in advertising, finance, IT, etc. But there was also a composer (music for TV and film) and a zookeeper (large mammals at the Bronx zoo).

No freaking way. Which team? I'm more of an F1 fan but I've followed CART/IRL/Indycars for years and been to many races. I'd love to spend time working in/around those cars if I had any sort of mechanical competency.
I'm basically a claims examiner for a third party administrator that handles worker's compensation claims for most of the employers in my state. Not exactly my dream job, but I'm trying to milk it and get a graduate degree paid for while I'm here.

I currently work for my older brother doing online cabin rentals for the Pigeon Forge area. It's very low stress and I can set my own hours, look at porn while at work, drink a beer or two, have long hair, work in my underwear, fart when I want, take a nap if I want, play with the cats and just about anything I damn well please so long as the work gets done. Easy peasy.
Prior to that I worked for a large insurance company doing tier 2 tech support. That company was bought out by an even bigger faceless corporation. I spent most of my day doing CYA paperwork and listening to people whine about their petty problems while trying to put out fires. I used to tell my friends that I didn't get paid to work, but rather got paid to be frustrated as it was very difficult to actually accomplish anything. A few years of that and I was a spineless soulless quivering shallow husk of my former self.

I read a lot of posts...even if I don't reply and I always find it interesting to see people say where they work or what they do. I notice there are quite a few engineers, for example. Shouldn't be a surprise, I guess. We (this forum) are just a slice out of regular society. Even though we spend thousands on bikes, shoes, helmets, lycra short sets, etc...outside of that, we're just regular people that can be seen daily at any Home Depot or Chic Fil A, lol. So...what do you do? What pays for your cycling addiction?
Myself...I am an ASE certified Master Automotive Technician. I graduated from Tech. School, then started out at a dealership. I worked there for a while until I realized that I had too many scruples for the types of things that went on there and also, that working flat rate was going to end with me seriously hurting someone. So, I moved on to an independent shop. Worked there for a long time. It had it's ups and downs, but the work was steady and I knew what I was going to be taking home every week. Thing is, for the work I did, it simply wasn't enough. At age 40, I realized there was no way I could do this for 20 to 25 more years. My body simply wasn't going to hold up. The job is hard on you. Backs, wrists, shoulders can only take so much. So after much searching, I found what I thought would be a happy medium. I now work for an extended warranty company analyzing mechanical claims. I get to work with cars, without having to work ON them. It's a desk job...which has it's pros and cons. I come home clean every evening, don't work in the elements, my body feels great and the money and benefits are awesome. My plan is to retire from here at 60 and ride off into the sunset with my 401k, lol. We'll see how that develops. Your turn...
