What I would really appreciate from the OP would be some ranking of freddy tells. For example, does a big seatbag trump a mirror? Do prononced tanlines somehow negate the mortal sin of valve caps? What about if you have a bell? If you have massive guads, do you need tanlines, or do you get bonus points for massive guads and tanlines? It's so confusing trying to fit in with the cool kids.

I used to be on the Internets long before most of the noobs here were even a twinkle in the eye of virtual reality. If you're incapable of discerning how to write your posts, you are dead to me.

Tan lines are the result of wearing your kit in the sun. You can get them puttering along the boardwalk on your beach cruiser. They speak nothing about your skill level or dedication (ever hear of this new thing called Spell Check?). Some riders tan easily and darkly, others have fair skin and wear high SPF sunscreen to prevent burning. I road bike and MTB, along with other outdoor sports, so my tan lines are blurred rather than sharp. My Scandinavian/Irish heritage means I'll never have a dark brown tan even if I rode 12 hours a day. One of my friends is from Brazil and he gets more of a tan in a long weekend than I will all summer even though I'm outdoors as much or more than he is.
Thank you, Captain Obvious.

My valve stem caps match my colored sidewalls. How's that for Fredliness? Still looking for colorway co-ordinated bell and mirror.

Wow it took me a while to figure out what this was even supposed to mean. Some of the best spelling I've seen from a soon to be banned user in a while.

Who knows, maybe that's why he's been away so long.

Why is there so much animosity between "roadies" and the rest of the people? Is it that bad for a person wearing their thousand dollar undies to be seen by all... to get blown off the road by someone in jeans?
What exactly is a "Fred"? Gadgets? Ever hear of a roadie with the latest power meter, cadence meter, cyclo computer, GPS, electronic shifters, and uploading every trip around the block to the web.... just to see if someone else has ridden around the block faster?
Or, perhaps those masquerading in plain clothes?
As far as electronics, they are hitting cycling in a big way, and we'll see more and more of them in the future.
For ordinary people on fast bikes... perhaps it is just this forum, but I think there is a resurgence in interest in "road bikes" as junky MTBs are being knocked off from being the king of the hill. Speed, Distances, Hardcore Commuters, and perhaps even better bikes and better tires all bringing back an interest into road bikes from all different types of people.

Personally, I have a Road bike, Hybrid bike, and a Hybrid. I ride whichever one I damn well please. From the three groups, I have experienced far more attitude from roadies. That is not to say, all roadies have an attitude. Far from it. But the "tude" does seem to be far more common in roadies, as evidenced of reference to "quality cyclist, etc in this very thread. And similar references are common in road bike forum's.
