Beer Mile
Now I may be late to the party,
but I just heard about the beer mile (from my running GF).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzHFmD3g5Xc
So is there a cycling equivalent? A beer 30K?

In all seriousness, a road equivalent would be extremely foolish and a liability nightmare.

This is as dumb as serving beer at a gun range. What could possibly go wrong?

Eww.
I thought it might be more along the lines of a beer frame in bowling, maybe a sprint where the last to finish has to buy. Chugging at the start? Stupid kids....

Do the rest of us a favour and get $hit faced at home. Cyclists face enough hurdles on the road without stupidity getting mixed in?

I'll bet they don't let people drink first then shoot. FWIW I am not anti-gun if that's the story you're telling yourself. I have had a permit to carry for 20 yrs and I do carry. Either my Glock .380 or .40. My son teaches the carry course and is an armorer, having been trained by Glock, Marlin, Colt and Barrett. Barrett are the sniper rifle people but I have a feeling you may know that. Just wanted to clarify.

There's an annual bicycling beer bar hop around here. Riders go from bar to bar for a beer. The number of crashes are pretty large and many of the riders don't wear helmets. I've never done it and neither have any of my cycling buddies.
On the other hand, I have played beer softball where there is a beer set up on each bag. To hit a double, you have to stop at first and chug the beer. A triple would be very difficult and I just don't see how anyone would hit an inside-the-park home run unless the other team allowed it just for the fun. Speaking of fun, kicking dirt into the beer is considered fun.

Are ya'll serious now? A catastrophe waiting to happen after one beer? ONE!
This may come as a surprise for many of the commenters, but one can of beer is not really going to do anything even impairment wise. Might make you throw up though, which I guess is kinda the idea.
Wouldn't do that anyways though. I like to get wasted while being comfortable and then cycle home.

I'm not sure how it might work with cycling. With running, you chug a beer each 1/4 mile lap. It probably is better with cycling in a tri format - drink, swim, drink, bike, drink, run, throw up.

Ditto. Surprised at the hate.
Went out on Saturday to a brewery. It was a nearly 60min ride there (took a longer route to make space for a beer), sat down and had a fresh beer and then rode home (~45min - took the shorter route). I thought it was a great idea and wondered why I hadn't thought of it before. I did get a few odd looks for showing up in cycling apparel at the bar - but I got over it quick.
It was a damned good beer too.
Now, I agree with you, if I'm going to have a few beers... I'll do it at home.

There is a thing here called "pedal party" where a bunch of people sit on a pedal-powered contraption while drinking beer. The "driver" steers and stops it, so the people drinking are just spinning their pedals and having fun. There are a lot of good breweries in a relatively small area of town so they'll hop from one to the other on their little bike wagon. Looks like everyone has a good time although I haven't done it, and if the passengers are too drunk to help with the pedaling I think they have an electric motor in there somewhere too.

I thought it was just being a cyclist. There are also Alleycats. The local ones here always have beer chugging at check in stations before you can move onto your next one. We have bicycle pub crawls. I would rather be drinking and riding a bike than drinking and having to pay for a cab.

Thx for pointing that out, although my best time was just over 10 minute, I think.
The other thing I think is missing in the OP's idea is that the main challenge of the beer mile is not running while drunk, but running while 4 freshly chugged beers slosh around in your stomach, waiting for a burp so it can sneak out in the form of puke. And the rules of the beer mile state that puking during the event means you run another lap (but not chug another beer, IIRC).

Many years ago, down at the S. Jersey shore, there was a well-known beer bike ride. It started at a bar/restaurant and went down the coast stopping at bars in each town. Then people rode back to the start. It was a fundraiser for a charity. While not everyone got wasted, more than one person would. Never understood how the municipalities along the route allowed it to happen. I doubt they would today.

That was a typical Saturday night when I was in college. None of my friends drove cars.

Riding a bike while ****faced drunk isn't illegal in Washington State. Our supreme court said that laws against drunk driving were clearly meant to apply to vehicles, not bicycles. The legislature has never seen fit to change that.

O'Doul's AF for me after a ride and even in the H2O bottle some times along with lemon slices.
